Copn is an archaeological site of the Maya civilization located in the Copn Department of western Honduras, not far from the border with Guatemala. It was the capital city of a major Classic period kingdom from the 5th to 9th centuries AD.
Depart from Antigua Guatemala at early on the morning and transfer to Copn, Honduras, our transfer will take aproximately of 6 hours, below a brief summary of what to expect on your way.
Stop At: HOTEL Y RESTAURANTE SANTA CRUZ

Pass by the border of Guatemala with Honduras. You'll make the border payments and inmigration procedure to get to Copan Ruinas. (The procedure will vary on time depending on group size).

Upon at our arrival to Copn we will meet our local guide an expert in the area which will fill you with all your knowledge of one of the most impressive archaeological sites in the Maya World: Copn, declared by UNESCO a World Heritage Site.
We will begin with a soft walking into the park, Copn is an archaeological site of the Maya civilization located in the Copn Department of western Honduras, not far from the border with Guatemala. It was the capital city of a major Classic period kingdom from the 5th to 9th centuries AD. The city was located in the extreme southeast of the Mesoamerican cultural region, on the frontier with the Isthmo-Colombian cultural region, and was almost surrounded by non-Maya peoples.
The Plaza of the Hieroglyphic Staircase has a monumental staircase, one of the exceptional structures of the Mayan culture. On the 10-meter-wide steps, there are more than 1,250 individual glyphs, which constitute the longest known Mayan inscription.
The Main Ensemble and the Cemetery Ensemble are located at the core of the site and are connected to the Sepultura Ensemble to the northeast by means of a road, the site is known for a series of stelae with portraits, most of which were placed along processional paths in the central plaza of the city and on the Acropolis, a large complex with pyramids, plazas and palaces, also has a long field for the Mesoamerican ball game.The field of play is between two parallel buildings that frame a rectangle of exact dimensions.

It is recommended that you bring walking shoes, hat, sunglasses, and a camera. You must also bring any medication and water if necessary for your health or by a medical note that indicates it.
Please Note: During holy week ( April 17 21, 2019) we do not pick up on hotels, you will be request to move to our meeting point where we will pick up you. Please be ready on the meeting 15 minutes prior the start time of the tour. Our meeting points are: Casa Santo Domingo Hotel or Soleil Hotel.

Long hours to get to Copan and back, but am pleased with the service and good driver to travel with. Tour guide in Copan Yobani was great as well. We think it’s really worth it!!!

A bit too boring for my taste, but I'm glad I got to see a part of Honduras. DO NOT forget to bring your passport!
