This is a great day trip from Athens that would be difficult to try to do on your own. Our guide picked us up at our hotel on time and did a great job telling us all about everything we passed during the trip out of Athens. Our first stop was the Corinth Canal. There is a great place to stop and see it well, and you get to walk out on the bridge over it to truly appreciate the size and engineering feat it took to dig it. Next stop was the archeological site of Ancient Corinth. There is a well-presented museum here and the site itself, with the backdrop of the mountain behind, was impressive. There is much more to see here than described, and we enjoyed a little more than an hour here as the perfect amount of time to explore. A short drive further was the archeological site of Mycenae with it's palace and tombs. Amazing. Famous. Impressive. And a gorgeous view of both mountains and agricultural valley to the sea. Another great museum on the site, and a well laid out site to explore. Final stop was Nafplio, the first capital of Greece, and a picturesque port town with beautiful views of the sea and the city streets. Plenty to explore here, and a good stop for lunch before heading back to Athens. Great day away from the busy city offering an opportunity to see more of Greece than just the capital.
