The class was very informative, fun, and plenty of wonderful food to eat! It was nice to learn about the local produce in the Mercado from Jeronimo. He was also super well versed on all of the local produce and spices and taught us how they go together for each dish. Even though the synopsis on Tripadvisor says the class is taught by Josefina (now retired), it will be taught by her son Jeronimo, who knows all of her recipes. If you do this class, be sure to go hungry, there will be a lot of really good food!

Great cooking class and market shopping experience! Geronimo is an excellent chef and has a ton of knowledge about foods and their nutritional value, highly recommended.

This class delivers an amazing cultural and culinary experience. One of the best ways a culinary oriented traveller can spend their day in Cozumel. The in depth knowledge of local culture, flavours, and the ability to turn all of it into a delight of the senses was fantastic!

We had the best time with Geronimo! The market is very fascinating and we learned so much. Geronimo allowed us to smell and taste many things we were curious about. His home kitchen was the perfect size for our group of six. He is very knowledgeable about the health benefits of Mexican cuisine and the art of preparing so many dishes. We were very full and had leftovers to take with us. It was a great day in the kitchen!

This was my favorite experience while visiting Cozumel. Although Josephina is now retired her son Geronimo did a very good job explaining everything, and making the experience enjoyable. We started out at a market which was an authentic Mexican shopping experience. After choosing the menu for the day he took us shopping for our ingredients explaining everything thoroughly. After shopping he took us to their cooking kitchen where he prepared everything for us. The kitchen was small but homey. We were fed very well that day. We learned how to make Mole, and everything was so delicious. The couple things I would have liked to be different was there was no A/C in the room and it was very hot, but Geronimo did mention that we could do the same experience at our rentals in the future. So if you you are renting a place with a Kitchen that might be an option for you. Also, it wasn’t as hands on as I was hoping. There was 7 of us and we did have a time constraint so I understand if there wasn’t enough space and time to accommodate all of us actually cooking. Nevertheless we all learned a lot and even our 17 year olds enjoyed themselves. Not only would I highly recommend this activity, I would definitely do it again.

We had a great time with this class! The class is actually taught by Jerônimo, Josefina‘s son. He is the nicest guy. Explained things well. The food was to DIE FOR. Do yourself a favor and take this class. We took it in July, and there is no AC in the kitchen. This would be my only hiccup, but hey, it’s authentic. We absolutely loved it. Also, do yourself a favor and get the cookbook.

Enjoyed everything! Shopping at the market, learning about the culture, watching and learning from Chef Jeronimo in hos personal kitchen. All the food was perfectly delicious. Cannot recommend this event enough. Be sure to buy the cookbook.
-
What an incredible experience The walk through the market through until the Margarita at the end of the meal were all an absolute delight. It felt like a cooking class, comedy show, and history lesson all at once. Absolutely great value.

What a fantastic experience! Well worth it. I plan to do it again the next time I am back in Cozumel. It was fun, informative and delicious! Don't think about it, just do it. You will not regret it. .

the 6 ladies enjoyed the market experience and the prepared foods and drinks with Geronimo in Cozumel... A very fun and educational experience; I think all were surprised to find Air Conditioning isn't the norm in local homes ... but all survived! They all gave high marks to this experience and would recommend to others.
