We enjoyed a phenomenal ride throughout varied terrain with spectacular views of the unspoiled countryside. The horses were responsive, well cared for and sure footed. Guides were very friendly, caring and knowledgeable about the area and went at a comfortable pace to accommodate riders’ varying abilities. The terrain was quite rocky and horses had to pick their way carefully along the paths, but we never felt unsafe or over-challenged (and one in our party was a novice rider). Upon returning to the ranch we had a delicious buffet-style lunch with several choices of authentic dishes that was quite a feast. It was an outstanding experience that I would highly recommend and will remember for many years to come.

This was the third time I have ridden with Leisurely Horse Back Riding. I am never disappointed in the experience. The views are spectacular, the Cowboys are awesome. Then after a great few hours riding you are served the most delicious meal. It is very worth the cost. I highly recommend this activity.

I am an experienced rider and was delighted that Beth was able to set up a private ride on short notice that had all the elements I was looking for: a calm, well-cared for horse, an opportunity to see life in a couple of small villages and interact with residents, information about the local history and culture, an opportunity to cross steams and canter up hills and even see the famous Sabino de la Huerta - a huge 450 year-old cypress tree where we had a picnic. The tour included curb-to-curb pickup at my casita in San Miguel and all for an amazingly reasonable price!!! Plus Beth was great company and a source of information about the area in general. I will plan my next trip to SMA around one of her other special rides and bring some friends!!!

Beth, Cato, and Reyes were all absolutely amazing during my private horseback ride to La Huerta to see the second oldest tree in Mexico, El Sabino. Beth picked me up from my Airbnb in Centro exactly on time and drove me out to the ranch. Once riding, Beth's horse, Sanctuario, was gentle and intelligent, making for an easy and delightful ride. Most importantly, Reyes and Cato, my local vaquero guides, made me feel completing at ease and safe trotting and galloping throughout the countryside of San Miguel de Allende. After a fantastic four hour ride, it was another great pleasure to sit down and enjoy the delicious ranch buffet, homemade by Cato's wife, with everyone. I highly recommend booking this once in lifetime experience with Leisurely Country Horseback. Thank you so much again Beth, Cato, Reyes, and Sanct!

When I knew that I was going to make a trip to San Miguel de Allende to visit my parents, I knew that I wanted to see the area on horseback. Leisurely Country Horseback was the perfect experience. Beth is so sweet and knowledgeable. Her vaqueros were great as well. I went on a full day trail ride with two vaqueros and one other person; we had two vaqueros so that we could eventually split off. I speak no Spanish and the vaquero who I was with spoke very little English but we were able to communicate just fine. I'm a pretty experienced rider and Beth was able to cater to that. I rode her gorgeous palomino, Santuario. He was a solid, dependable, sure-footed, and confident horse. Super responsive, too. All of her horses appeared to be incredibly healthy and well cared for. I thought that a full day ride might be a bit much but it was perfect. If/when I go back I'll definitely be booking another ride!

It was a Great day with lovely scenery, lots of people to greet as we rode through little villages and homesteads, lots of farm animals. Part of my day was basically a private tour. Since the rides are customized and the other rider was more experienced and wanted to gallop, my excellent guide Juan walked the trails with me so I could enjoy the scenery, nature and ambiance of being in the Mexican countryside. The Sabino Tree was inspiring, as was the 400 year old church Juan showed me. The home cooked lunch at the ranch was yummy, the weather was perfect, and the the length of the ride and entire day just right. And I could walk the next day! A very special way to see parts of Mexico that are seldom seen. Beth has a special agreement to take riders through this unspoiled countryside and it's a rare treat.
