Overview

On March 22, 1933, a few weeks after Adolf Hitler had been appointed Reich Chancellor, a concentration camp for political prisoners was set up in Dachau. This camp served as a model for all later concentration camps and as a "school of violence" for the SS men under whose command it stood. In the twelve years of its existence over 200. 000 persons from all over Europe were imprisoned here and in the numerous subsidary camps. 41. 500 were murdered. On April 29 1945, American troops liberated the survivors.

Excellent customized pick up/ drop off with Suzart Tours. Driver, Seba did a great job getting us to and from our port in Regensburg. The Memorial site is well planned out with indoor exhibits, a movie and a free tour of the grounds with a knowledgeable guide. Very sobering although vital as we must never forget!

Everything went as planned from pick up to drop off. The driver was prompt and did a great job getting us to and from our river cruise port. We always received prompt replies via email when planning and confirming our trip. The Memorial site is very well planned with a movie, exhibits and a walking tour with a guide.

Our driver was very good and we enjoyed our trip with him. But I do have to say on Viator’s ad it said it would be just our group and our guide. We were disappointed to be put with a group of over 30 people to tour Dachau with no microphones or boxes to hear. I would suggest you be clearer that the only private part of the “tour” is the ride. That said our guide at Dachau was exceptional and we were grateful that despite being seeing online that our particular date was full we called and the Viator rep went out of his way to get us in. So thank you!!

I have wished to visit Germany for a variety of reasons and attractions, really if you haven’t yet…if you can - do it; if you can’t - save for it. Rob (our tour guide) was great - we talked for the entire 2 hour ride about Dachau, Nuremberg, Bavaria, amd Munich amongst other connections both for WWII (pre/during/post) and The Cold War. We coordinated with Suzarts for a combo tour and transfer which was most advantageous given we had no other contingency with the recent train strike. Our first day arriving in Frankfurt was disrupted by the strike with the 10:36 ICE train getting cancelled while we were waiting on the platform. Having a car prearranged on Day two was a relief as we would have had a similar challenge the next day. Rob was also punctual across the board and made sure we made everything we planned. All we had to do was roll out of bed, check out, and meet Rob where he was waiting for us at our arranged time. Then at Dachau - he managed a hand off to the Camp Memorial tour guide and we remained in touch throughout the tour. The tour was amazing - plan a full day if you have an interest in this history. The memorial is incredibly moving and well presented. Following the tour - Rob dropped us at our hotel in Munich making our trip from Nuremberg incredibly easy. We arranged a custom private tour and transfer from Nuremberg to Dachau and then terminating in Munich - so probably 6 or more hours of driving and about 3-4 hours of history for Rob, full coordination of the tour, complete control over the time, and all details in Dachau (outside of lunch, which was understood up front). Work with Suzarts - I’d recommend if you’re coming into Frankfurt and plan on spending time in Bavaria.

Robson showed up early for pickup and provided information during the drive to Dachau. It was definitely worth doing the trip this way—trying to take the train to Munich and then going to Dachau would have been too much. Robson took very good care of us while we were at Dachau. He saw that my elderly mother was having trouble walking and procured a wheelchair for her use. He also obtained audio guides, guided us to the film at the documentation center, and arranged for us to join one of the tours in English. In addition, we told him we needed to purchase train tickets from Nuremberg to Regensburg to join our cruise and he offered todo the transfer himself for a very reasonable price. For pickup to Regensburg, he was again waiting for us when we were ready to go. Robson took very good care of us and I highly recommend him. He is Brazilian and very friendly.

Rob is a great guide, flexible and knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with him. The tour at Dachau was very informative and interesting. Warning - visiting Dachau is very emotionally draining. I would recommend this tour to anybody.
