Know More about this tour

This exclusive tour of David and the Duomo lets you skip the lines at two of Florence’s biggest attractions and revel in some of the greatest art and architecture produced during the Italian Renaissance. Visit Michelangelo’s David before the crowds show up; climb the Florence Dome without waiting in line; explore areas of the Duomo usually closed to the public; and dig deeper at the Duomo Museum & Baptistery.

You’ll start first thing in the morning, meeting your local expert guide and intimate group of 15 people or fewer outside the Accademia. Before the daytime crowds show up, you’ll head in to marvel at Michelangelo’s David as well as his unfinished sculptures known as ‘Slaves’ which give incredible insight into the mind of the great artist.

Next it’s onto the Duomo Baptistery which is famous for its replicas of the bronze doors called the “Gates of Paradise” (don’t worry, you’ll see the real ones later, in the Duomo Museum). Inside the Baptistery packed with beautiful art and fascinating stories about the Medici family who were all baptized here.

From there your guide take you over to the Duomo Museum to show you what the the original facade of the Cathedral actually looked like. While there you’ll also see masterpieces by Michelangelo and Donatello.

From the museum, you’ll skip lines into the Duomo where you’ll have special access to a room filled with original statues from the cathedral’s facade. Your guide will bring the unbelievable history of the Duomo’s construction to life as you explore the building. Your special access extends to the Cathedral itself, where you’ll step over the velvet ropes to see details up close.

We’ve saved the best for last. After seeing all there is to see inside the Cathedral, you’ll visit the Duomo Terraces where you’ll use a special entrance to skip the (always long) line and climb all the way up to the top of the Duomo for the city’s most amazing views.

  • Teresa, our knowledgeable guide, was articulate, kept a perfect pace, and answered all of our questions and then some. Her friendliness and enthusiasm enhanced this amazing tour! We saved quite a lot of time by skipping the long summer lines.

  • Charles was so brilliant! What knowledge he had about all artists and Florence! He was so informative and entertaining! We loved every minute of the tour! A must see!!!

  • This tour was absolutely amazing. I ordered it for a total of 6 guests and we all agree! Our Tour guide Angelo was magnificent! We all said he had a voice you could listen to for hours and our tour was 3 hours long. He was so knowledgeable about all of Florence's history and funny too. We were not bored for a second. We highly recommend the skip the line and early tour, it was rough - i will be honest - waking up to be there by 7:45am but it was worth it. The crowds were not bad at all, at that time. But when ours ended, oh boy the lines were out the door. 3 hour duration was perfect, not too long or short for what we saw. This tour did not include the Uffizi Gallery but we had entrance tickets with this purchase. The Dome climb was, crazy! Some in our group could not do the whole climb to the top. And some who made it to the top didn't feel too good, but for those of us who made it all the way with no issues thought it was amazing!! And the top is where you will see the most breathtaking views of Florence ever! Its a great workout too as you could imagine. I probably would not recommend it for those who are claustrophobic or afraid of heights. Its a very long climb up through a very narrow stairwell. But if you can make it its worth it! In this tour, it was also really nice to have a small group. I think we had a total of 10 in our tour group. The headsets are excellent because you don't have to stand right next to your guide when they are speaking and you can hear them for the most part very clearly.

And one final thought on David. Ive seen some reviews about it not being worth it that you are standing around looking at a 17 ft. statue and its boring. This was not the case at all for our group. Those writers may have said that because they did not have a tour guide or maybe they really didnt care about its rich history but we learned the entire history of this statue from our guide Angelo as if we stepped back in Renaissance time. Truly a magnificent work of art. There was much more to see in the Accademia but we did not during the tour, our tickets however had 48 hour access so we could go back any time.

This was absolutely a great purchase and Angelo was a big part in making it all worthwhile. Thank you Angelo and Florence for sharing your history!! We would definitely recommend this tour.

  • Well worth the climb!

  • Excellent tour. Charles, our guide was brilliant - very informative and easy to listen to. Enjoyed the Academia tour - we were first in and really benefitted from this. The tour of Duomo and the associated baptistery and museum was fascinating. The views from the top of the Duomo were fantastic. In this tour we were also taken out along one of the lower platforms - where there was only one other group. This was great as without the crowds you could enjoy the view. We did have a small group for this tour which was did make listening to our guide and asking questions easier.

  • When we arrived at the meeting place for the start of the tour we were surprised to discover that we were the only two on the tour that day. What a treat! Our guide, Paulo, was excellent. His depth of knowledge and keen interest in the art and history of Florence added greatly to our appreciation and enjoyment of the spectacular works of art. Highlights were the early entry to the Accademia which allowed us to really appreciate Michelangelo's David without the crowds and the time spent on the terrace at the Duomo enjoying the spectacular views as Paulo pointed out places of interest in the city. We can't imagine a better introduction to the city of Florence.

  • Hiking with FABIO and STEFANO was absolutely amazing!! Perfect day hiking thru the villages...with amazing views! Best laid out plans for the entire day...when and where to start, the local food, train rides, and a boat ride...where we even saw dolphins!! Can and #39;t recommend enough!!
