Know More about this tour

This exclusive tour of David and the Duomo lets you skip the lines at two of Florences biggest attractions and revel in some of the greatest art and architecture produced during the Italian Renaissance. Visit Michelangelos David before the crowds show up; climb the Florence Dome without waiting in line; explore areas of the Duomo usually closed to the public; and dig deeper at the Duomo Museum & Baptistery.

Youll start first thing in the morning, meeting your local expert guide and intimate group of 15 people or fewer outside the Accademia. Before the daytime crowds show up, youll head in to marvel at Michelangelos David as well as his unfinished sculptures known as Slaves which give incredible insight into the mind of the great artist.

Next its onto the Duomo Baptistery which is famous for its replicas of the bronze doors called the Gates of Paradise (dont worry, youll see the real ones later, in the Duomo Museum). Inside the Baptistery packed with beautiful art and fascinating stories about the Medici family who were all baptized here.

From there your guide take you over to the Duomo Museum to show you what the the original facade of the Cathedral actually looked like. While there youll also see masterpieces by Michelangelo and Donatello.

From the museum, youll skip lines into the Duomo where youll have special access to a room filled with original statues from the cathedrals facade. Your guide will bring the unbelievable history of the Duomos construction to life as you explore the building. Your special access extends to the Cathedral itself, where youll step over the velvet ropes to see details up close.

Weve saved the best for last. After seeing all there is to see inside the Cathedral, youll visit the Duomo Terraces where youll use a special entrance to skip the (always long) line and climb all the way up to the top of the Duomo for the citys most amazing views.

  • The best of Florence...skip the lines is an understatement!!!!! David is so impressiveand our tour guide was very passionate about this masterpiece.

  • We loved this tour. Getting in early to see David was such a highlight for me as I missed seeing him last time I was in Florence. Climbing to the top of the Dome and seeing the view of Florence was simply breathtaking! We took so many pictures from that view point. Last time I visited I toured Il Duomo but definitely did not do the climb. It is a bit of a tight squeeze going all the way up and down but it's worth it. Plus I loved seeing how tight the staircase was as it showed the age of the building well. Our tour guide Teresa was wonderful and knowledgeable!

  • The early experience was perfect. Being one of the first groups in gave one time to enjoy. Our guide was very enthusiastic and informative.

  • Really knowledgable guide. Fantastic discussion of David- a breathtaking piece of art made more interesting by our guide's understanding of the piece. Duomo climb was great with a magnificent view of Florence.

  • We very much enjoyed this tour. Very informative and helped us navigate through the crowds to the highlights. The climb to the cupola was fantastic. This tour is highly recommended.

  • Klaas was an awesome guide. His knowledge of art combined with his passion made this a wonderful experience. His description of how Michelangelo carved the statues from the marble really made it easy to visualize the process. His explanation of the political climates in Rome and Florence added additional understanding to the importance of David.

  • Teresa, our knowledgeable guide, was articulate, kept a perfect pace, and answered all of our questions and then some. Her friendliness and enthusiasm enhanced this amazing tour! We saved quite a lot of time by skipping the long summer lines.

  • Charles was so brilliant! What knowledge he had about all artists and Florence! He was so informative and entertaining! We loved every minute of the tour! A must see!!!

  • This tour was absolutely amazing. I ordered it for a total of 6 guests and we all agree! Our Tour guide Angelo was magnificent! We all said he had a voice you could listen to for hours and our tour was 3 hours long. He was so knowledgeable about all of Florence's history and funny too. We were not bored for a second. We highly recommend the skip the line and early tour, it was rough - i will be honest - waking up to be there by 7:45am but it was worth it. The crowds were not bad at all, at that time. But when ours ended, oh boy the lines were out the door. 3 hour duration was perfect, not too long or short for what we saw. This tour did not include the Uffizi Gallery but we had entrance tickets with this purchase. The Dome climb was, crazy! Some in our group could not do the whole climb to the top. And some who made it to the top didn't feel too good, but for those of us who made it all the way with no issues thought it was amazing!! And the top is where you will see the most breathtaking views of Florence ever! Its a great workout too as you could imagine. I probably would not recommend it for those who are claustrophobic or afraid of heights. Its a very long climb up through a very narrow stairwell. But if you can make it its worth it! In this tour, it was also really nice to have a small group. I think we had a total of 10 in our tour group. The headsets are excellent because you don't have to stand right next to your guide when they are speaking and you can hear them for the most part very clearly.

And one final thought on David. Ive seen some reviews about it not being worth it that you are standing around looking at a 17 ft. statue and its boring. This was not the case at all for our group. Those writers may have said that because they did not have a tour guide or maybe they really didnt care about its rich history but we learned the entire history of this statue from our guide Angelo as if we stepped back in Renaissance time. Truly a magnificent work of art. There was much more to see in the Accademia but we did not during the tour, our tickets however had 48 hour access so we could go back any time.

This was absolutely a great purchase and Angelo was a big part in making it all worthwhile. Thank you Angelo and Florence for sharing your history!! We would definitely recommend this tour.

  • Well worth the climb!
