We booked the day trip to Colon by train. Due to heavy rain and flooding Eduardo offered an alternative at short notice which we appreciated which was no San Lorenzo or Portobello but to Gamboa instead. Eduardo is excellent, friendly, helpful, interesting and informative and arranged everything so it was all very easy. We liked the train and the rain forest at Gamboa very much.
Well worth the cost. Great guide, Eduardo, he brought the history of Panama and its colorful history to life.
It was very good trip overall and our tour guide was very nice and professional. We started with Panama Canal Railway train ride. Even though we have to get up really early, the train ride was pleasant with service of coffee and snack box. Our tour guide took us to the new lock, Agua Clara Locks, spent most time there. Then he brought us to Gatun Locks and the Dam. Portobello is a natural beauty. However, like Colon, these places need more love and care.
Very informative guide, however the Portobello Fort has not been a part of this tour since cyclone Otto made it inaccesible in November
This was the best one-day travel experience of my life. For anyone interested in the Panama canal and history in general plus wildlife and cultuture, I highly recommend this tour. Our guide, Eduardo was excellent. The train ride across Panama was very special with outstanding views of the canal. The whole day far exceeded our optimistic expectations.
Our tour guide,Edwardo is very knowledgeable and very nice.
