Know More about this tour

Your guide will pick you up at a centrally located place in Amsterdam in the morning. On board in your comfortable vehicle, you will pass through the typical Dutch landscape the drive will last approximately 1.5 hours to the Dutch Venice, Giethoorn. In this picturesque town with all its canals it becomes very clear how the Dutch people can live with and on the water. In Giethoorn cars are not allowed and little has changed over the centuries. Your included 1-hour boat tour passes the skillfully restored farm houses. After this you will have some free time for lunch (not included) and be able to do some further exploring on your own. Naturally, your professional guide can give you some tips on what to see and where to eat.

After lunch we continue to the impressive 32 km. long Enclosing dike in the Ijsselmeer, on of the largest lakes in Western Europe. • Lovely place and great tour guide, we will come back to Amsterdam to revisit this Giethoorn .

  • Tour guide was able to communicate in English, however, she did not seem to be fluent enough. Moreover, were somewhat disappointed as we did not arrive back in Amsterdam after 7.5hrs. Nonetheless, I must say that Giethoorn was beautiful and that this was the cheapest travel option to visit from Amsterdam.

  • Very beautiful trip had a wonderful day.

  • Nice Tour and many beautiful places to discover

  • This is the real-life version of the Storybook Canal boats at Disneyland. It's a beautiful villae with welcoming residents. Loved going through this little village by boat and then walking around.

  • This tour was the highlight of our vacation. One of the most beautiful places on the planet Giethoorn simply heaven on earth.
The additional cost for Volendam trip was around Euro 25 which was not mentioned on Viator and a bit disappointing. The tour departed on time from a very central location. The commentary on the way was extensive and sometimes boring but the ride was comfortable. Quite a few pretty sites on the way including some fascinating windmills. First stop was Giethoorn Village and we were awestruck by the beauty. The one hour boat ride was amazing and the tour guide was hilarious. It was a couple of degrees colder on the boat so bring a windbreaker / jacket with you. After the ride we had time to explore the village on our own which was a wonderful experience. There are several cafes along the walkways and we tried coffee and cheese at a couple. The next stop was village of Volendam which seems more like something out of a fairy tale. The houses are stunning, beautiful, clean and well decorated. We stopped at a cheese store where they shared the process of making cheese and offered us variety to taste. Next stop was the stroopwaffle factory which was a lot of fun also. The return was via a nice double deck bus giving some great views of the route. I would strongly recommend this trip to anyone looking for serenity and fairy tale like views. Will also post photos.

  • Gorgeous - great little restaurants to snack at while you're there. Also some good shopping. Just precious.

  • Absolutely worth it love our tour guide , she spoke about some interesting fact about the Netherlands

  • Wow - a spellbinding place, right out of a picture postcard!
This is how I would like to describe this place.
Coming to the tour - this is the best way to visit this place within a day. Our guide, a lady I do not remember her name though made every effort to make this tour truly memorable for the visitors. Despite it being a stormy weather, she made sure that we do not the canal tour. She was very informative as well :

FYI - I opted for this tour on Oct 5, 2017

  • This was a special trip, the highlight of our week in Holland. The weather was perfect. The place is a virtual garden of Eden. Clean fresh air, no roads meaning no cars. You can walk on the paths next to the canals or hire a boat. there are quaint shops, very good restaurants. I suggest staying there for 2 days at least. Our guide was excellent as was the driver. Our only problem with this tour was the very large group as we travelled to and fro on a double-decker bus, otherwise we would give this six6 stars.
