My trip to the beach was excellent!! My guide provided a wonderful historical background on the island to and from the beach, so the drive was both a visual, and educational experience. While at the beach, my guide, Jenelle, knew the best spot to eat and helped me experience the local cuisine. I felt fortunate to have her as my guide!!

We had the chance to visit Maracas Beach on a Cruise Port Call. A beautiful sight well worth the $30 taxi ride there from the cruise port. A beach surrounded by wooded hills My girlfriend and I had a nice swim, and a long walk all the way to the small and picturesque fishing village at the left side of the beach - facing the water. Even if crowded with cruisers near the taxi and buses drop-off, a little walk and a nice piece of empty beach can be found. Simply beautiful!

We had a great time! Denten had great information to share, knew the area and was great company! The hike was easy, he knew which was the best path and he let us take all the time we wanted at the waterfall.

We really enjoyed the time we spent at the beach. Our driver, Neil, was extremely knowledgeable and the beach was beautiful. The only thing I would change would be to have been able to spend more time on the beach. We were only able to enjoy it for about two hours and that didn't do it justice.

This was called a private day trip which it wasn't. There was another couple which was not the problem. This guide gave us the best of our 4 trips in some ways. He gave us interesting information, but he did not seem to be a professional guide--which he wasn't--this was an aside to his normal hotel day job. We walked to the waterfall through tons of mud. I feel shortly after we started and hit my knee. It was a difficult walk after that although he seemed not to notice. He wanted us to have lunch at 10:30 because he hadn't had breakfast (after we stopped at his friends snack bar) which we declined so we waited at Las Cuevas while he had his french fries for breakfast. At lunch, after our walk, he took the only seat in the shade. He did not help find a bathroom or place to wash our hands before lunch. We scouted out the bathroom and used some bottled water to wash our hands. At the included lunch, he bought himself a coke but nothing to drink for the rest of us until after lunch. He could be a good guide with some coaching, but doubt that will happen.
