Know More about this tour

Begin your combo tour of Washington DC by boarding your comfortable, air-conditioned coach at Union Station. As you travel the city on this 7 hour portion of this combo tour, listen to your knowledgeable driver share information and anecdotes about the US capital and its many famous sights.

Disembark your coach to visit certain landmarks independently. Join a guided tour (reserved for you in advance) of the US Capitol, where the Congress meets, and make the most of your photo stop at the White House South Lawn. At the White House Visitor Center, get a sense of what the White House looks like inside and learn about US presidents. Have lunch (at your own expense) at your choice of several locations; your guide will let you know when to return to the coach.

Pay your respects to the heroes of World War II at the stately World War II Memorial with its lovely fountains. Spend time exploring the vast collections at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum and the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.

In the course of your tour, you'll also see the Washington Monument, FBI headquarters (J Edgar Hoover Building), Federal Triangle, Ellipse, Tidal Basin, National Archives, House and Senate Office Building, US Botanical Gardens, National Gallery of Art, US Navy Memorial and Grant Memorial so keep your camera handy!

Enjoy dinner at the restaurant of your choice at Union Station (not included in fare) before taking your 3 hour evening tour of the national monuments flooded in lights. What a sight!

Step off the coach to visit the Jefferson, Lincoln, Vietnam, Korean and FDR memorials, and experience breathtaking views from the roof of the Kennedy Center (if available).

  • excellent tour, to see all the monuments lit up is spectacular and theirs a lot to see

  • Viator you need to update your offerings and get the correct information from Gray Lines. What I requested and what I paid for were two different things. First of all I requested to be picked up at our hotel, Grayline does not offer that service yet i was told this tour offered it. Luckily I had called Gray Line and they got back to me to let me know I was not being picked up.

It turns out that the DC in a Day is exactly the same tour as DC after Dark. So we ended up taking the same tour twice. We did not get the following: enjoy independent time to visit the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum and the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. I was not the only customer who ordered the same tour from you all.

I complained to Gray Line and I understand they have repeatedly told you they do not pick up customers and that what you listed as the tour is not the same that Gray Line offers.. Because I feel you misrepresented the tour I cant give you 5 stars.

The tour itself was good, we unfortunately had a dry driver that wasn't as friendly as he could have been.

I strongly suggest that you update your information and sell the correct product.

  • Even though the times were changed before we left England and we were told there would be no hotel pick up, when we arrived we called the company and they said they would pick us up. They dropped us off at the hotel after the evening trip as well. We were very pleased and thankful to the company. The first part of the trip to Mount Vernon was really good and the evening was even better. All of the staff were brilliant and I would certainly recommend them to anyone.

  • The trip got off to a negative start: The driver didn't pick us up at the hotel, in spite of confirming the time, place, date the day before and waiting at the designated pickup point well in advance of the allotted time. We very hurriedly took the Metro to Union Station and were able to breathlessly join the group there. Our bus driver was fantastic though; pointed out sights along the way and was very pleasant. The time available at Mount Vernon to see the grounds was not sufficient as we waited so long in line to see the house. Lots of schoolkids in line. The monuments after dark were TOO dark, hazardous walking from the bus, and the monuments themselves were not lighted enough to enjoy. The positive part was that the bus dropped us off at the hotel after the tour, which was convenient because it was late evening by the time we returned.

  • Mt. Vernon is definitely worth it; however, 2 to 2.5 hours is not enough time to visit the entire site. I would say 4 hours is recommended, at least. The night tour was nice, but some of the monuments were not really visible at night, like the Vietnam Memorial, the Korean Memorial, the FDR Memorial. It also was a very long day, so be sure to get rest prior to going. And if you do not enjoy walking a lot, perhaps this is not the tour for you. Our bus driver/guide was very informative and pleasant to spend the time with.

  • The Mt Vernon trip was outstanding and the bus driver was enthusiastic, informed, and involved. On the other hand, although the Washington After Dark tour was excellent from an experience point of view, the bus driver/tour guide was unenthusiastic and even rude to several people. He was disrespectful at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. And the trip back to the hotels was a a nightmare, literally the tour ended at 1015pm and we did not get back to our hotel until 1230 because the bus driver drove us into Virginia to let a few people out at far-away hotels. Most of the people were so disgusted that they simply asked to be let off the bus in downtown DC in order to take cabs back to their hotels.

  • Only had about 10 minutes per stop, which included walking about a block each way. Mt. Vernon was great, but took 1 hour to get into the estate; we had about 1 hour and 45 minutes total, so only about 30 minutes or less outside on grounds.

  • The bus driver was great. He told us everything worth seeing.

  • Your staff were wonderful. However, there were so many groups leaving at the same time (on the evening part of our tour) that it was a mess. We got off from the staging area 40 minutes late and therefore we had to literally run to each monument, and run back.

  • Terrific, accommodating and enlightening tour guide / driver.
