Know More about this tour

Ancient Greece is the civilization that existed roughly between the 8th century BC and 600 AD, and Delphi was said to represent the center of it. Reputedly built on the spot where Zeus’ eagles collided when they were released from opposite ends of the earth, the ancient town is littered with intriguing monuments from this fascinating period of history.

After meeting your guide in Athens, hear tales about the ancient Greeks and their lives in Delphi while traveling to the town by air-conditioned coach. Pass through the towns of Levadia and Arachova – both famous for their production of brightly colored carpets – and arrive in Delphi around midday.

First stop is a tour of the Delphi archeological site – a UNESCO World Heritage Site and easily one of the most important digs in Europe. As you walk around the evocative ruins with your guide, see famous monuments like the Temple of Apollo.

Head inside Delphi Archeological Museum and explore this veritable treasure trove at leisure. Home to countless artifacts and intriguing relics, the museum consists of 15 rooms arranged in chronological order from 15th century BC to 4th century AD. Be sure to check out the bronze Charioteer of Delphi and the Sphinx of Naxos.

After eating lunch at a Delphi hotel (own expense), you will return to Athens, stopping in Arachova on the way to stretch your legs or grab a coffee (own expense).

  • The tour was great! Our guide was very friendly, outgoing and very knowledgeable. The only thing that I didn't like was that we were only given 10 mins after the tour was over to wonder Delphi on our own before we had to head to the museum. This was not enough time, especially when we wanted to go up and see the arena. We basically had to run up, take a picture and then race down not a relaxing visit to Delphi. However it was defiantly worth going.

  • This day trip was a great day during our stay in Athens. The bus is comfortable but it's a long ride, appx two hours each way. However, Delphi is pretty incredible, as is having the tour guide. Mina told us about Athens while leaving the city, walked us through the history of Delphi, the ruins, the rituals and beliefs and occurrences there, and then took us through the connected museum. Lunch at the nearby hotel had an incredible view. Great day, highly recommend.

  • This tour was amazing!

  • It was nice that we got picked up from our Hotel lobby, but there was a late guest that caused a delay in changing buses. It was a bit tiring to be stuck in traffic and riding in circles to wait for this one passenger from a different tour. My advice: walk to the meet up location yourself or get a taxi. Otherwise, the drive to Delphi was very long, we had a stop for coffee break after 1.5 hours of driving. The food there was relatively cheap and had a couple souvenir food-type items to buy. The actual location of Delphi was a huge site! Definitely bring your walking shoes to walk up the numerous slopes and enjoy the amazing view at such a high attitude. Bring a wide-lens camera to capture the beauty! After the Delphi location tour, we spent time in the museum. Everything was clean and informative, so this was a great museum! The lunch portion was alright, we had an appetizer, salad, main course, then desert. We had some sort of chicken that tasted pretty good, but some people were not too fond of it. On the drive back, we stopped at a different rest stop that was more of a market place. It was great because you had numerous options for food, drinks, coffee, and snacks for your trip back or to bring home!

Overall, I had a great experience. The tour guide was speaking in English and translating every single sentence after in French. It was a bit time consuming and made me felt sluggish, since the information was coming in one sentence/paragraph at a time. But the tour guide was knowledgeable and told us some interesting stories on the geological landmarks.

  • excellent guide

  • This was an excellent tour although a little rushed. The site was brilliant, absolutely stunning. More time was needed at the site to explore, we are not fit enough to belt up the mountain. More time was also needed at the museum. The guide was very good, clear and knowledgeable.

  • Great trip. Tour guide was very good, enough time at Delphi to see most everything. There is some walking involved uphill both ways, so wear walking shoes, not flip flops like I saw some people struggle with. We had the lunch option. The food was decent,

  • Long day , poor guide and not enough time to explore according to the info we got.

  • I fantastic tour to a very beautiful place.

  • Very informative tour. The guide was very knowledgeable and I learned (some I had studied but had forgotten) a lot about Greek mythology, especially the chapters relevant to the site. Be prepared for a lot of walking and a hike (not required but recommended)... the view from the top is breathtaking!
