Overview

Greeks and their mythological god Dionysus taught the world how to cultivate grapevines to make wine. As a result there is a longstanding wine tradition in Greece, but we still love to hear stories of wine for other parts of the world.
No other product is more associated with the nutritional habits of the Greeks, their religion, their traditions and their cultural heritage.
An amazing day with exploration of a vineyard and a winery, with owners as your guides. Learn everything about Messinian wines and old traditional techniques of winemaking. On season you will have the opportunity to help harvest the grapes and take part in grapes stomping.
Plant your vine and produce your own wine. Off course we will take care your vines and we will send your yield home later.

Know More about this tour

Pickup from the meeting point. We walk through olive groves and vineyards to welcome you in our small organic farm and vineyard.
The optimal season for this unique tour is during harvest season, anytime from mid-August to mid-October each year. During this period you have the opportunity to help harvest the grapes and take part in grape stomping. See how we turn the grapes into wine using the stone-made wine press on the farm.
We grow a selection of ancient Greek grape varieties to meet harvesting demands and cover all-seasons. The wine on the farm is made using a traditional technique handed down to us from our grandfather.
Beyond the main grape harvest season you can still experience driving and walking through endless vineyards, touching and smelling the grape vines and take part in their annual cultivation, care and works. You will learn about various Greek varieties of grapes and the secrets of each grapevine variety and the different types of wine they produce.
You will be briefed on the production of the famous Messinia wines of a award-winning winery in our area and you will learn the secrets of winemaking and the modern techniques of wine making.
Hear about the various special varieties of the area like, Moschofilero, Roditis (white), and Agiorgitiko (red), alongside other native and foreign varieties.
After you will taste various balsamic vinegars from an awarded local producer and you will learn everything about the production of these famous Messinian exported products.
Its a wine day today and you will learn to cook some traditional Greek recipes with wine as main ingredient. Also our salads today will be topped with various aromatic dressings based on local balsamic vinegars and herbs.
Our tasteful lunch will be accompanied with lots of farm wine because as we say in Greece Homemade wine is the best wine in the world.
