Overview

This unique tour takes you to a different part of the world, on a visit to a bazaar and the local culture of Delhi.
Discover Chandni Chowk (Moonlight Square), without doubt the busiest market area in Delhi. It dates back to 1638, when Emperor Shahjahan shifted his capital from Agra to Delhi and his daughter Jahanara constructed a square, around which a busy market grew.
Today, Chandni chowk is home to silversmiths, repair shops, clothiers, spicy street food vendors and traditional sweetmeat shops.
During this walk, explore not just the bazaar, but also the cultural landscape of this area.
Visit Dariba Kalan (the silver market), Kinari Bazaar (wedding market) and Paranthewali Galli (Lane of Parathas). Also visit Gurdwara Sees Ganj Sahib, built at the site where Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, was beheaded for refusing to convert to Islam.
Go past Jama Masjid (one of the biggest mosques in Asia) before having dinner at local restaurant.

Ahmid has guided us greatly and safe in the middle of the crowd of the old city and market. We have loved everything from the people, the shops, the temples. Ahmid told us many stories and information to get the best from the visit. Worth while doing this tour and enjoying the rich experience of a professional guide

First of all, I booked this tour on-line within 2 hours of it starting, so I really appreciated them accommodating me on such short notice. While making my way to the meeting point, Shon, my guide, checked in by phone to ensure that I knew where I was going and not having any issues navigating my way through Old Delhi. I really enjoyed getting to explore the back alleys and tiny streets including the Chandni Chowk market. Shon was a knowledgable and very capable guide and I definitely got to see areas of Delhi that I never would have experienced on my own. Seeing eagles and kites feeding on handouts left above the Meena Bazar was a highlight. The samplings of street food were fun and interesting---a great kabab place, dates, chai, etc. Would definitely recommend. Not a touristy walking tour, but rather a fascinating insight into how the locals live/shop/eat/worship and what it might be like to be a Delhi resident.

No hotel pickup was stressful. The tour itself was hectic and chaotic and very free form. Turned out to be more of a market tour than a historical overview. We managed to see one monument and the rest was walking the streets of the markets. We probably would not have done otherwise. No chance of actually shopping as the streets are quite crowded and busy. Our guide was a blessing. Friendly, informative and most of all protective. We never felt unsafe, but having a local with us who spoke the language was comforting. The Tuc Tuc ride is a must, simply for the experience.
