My first experience scuba diving, I felt very prepared and secure in going into the ocean with the training they give you . I did unfortunately get sea-sick, and didn't make it to the reef LOL, but other than that it the underwater museum was beautiful and from what my husband said the reef was very vibrant.

The tour itself is a great value for someone who is just getting into scuba diving and the tour guides are very knowledgeable and professional but for someone who has never scuba dived before, we found the two-tank dive a bit too much. To start, the hotel where the tour starts is easy to get to by bus or taxi. The instructors are patient in teaching you how to use the equipment at the hotel pool. After everyone gets comfortable with their equipment, you then board a private boat to the first dive site, the underwater museum. Maybe we were caught on a bad day but of the six first-time divers on the boat, only one were able to do their second dive. The waves were fairly strong and it rocked our boat pretty hard which caused the rest of us rookies to become sea sick after the first dive. I rated this tour 3 star because to be fair the tour itself was well executed and is a good value but since so many of us ended up sick, I deducted 2 stars.

We were quite disappointed with the organization.I booked this activity as we really wanted to see the underwater museum so we said we would cancel it only in case of unexpected circumstances. We were staying in Playa del Carmen so we took a taxi on Wednesday morning 6:30 to get on time to Cancun at 8:00am where they would pick us up in the lobby of hotel RIU Caribe. At around 8:30 we started to be a little concerned because nobody came for us so we called them. They confirmed that they have our reservation and they dont know what happend so they will send someone to the lobby. The instructor from Scuba Caribe came and said that the activity was cancelled due to wind and rain, which was true but how should we know what are the perfect conditions exactly for diving. They should at least let us know that we are expecting rain so the activity is cancelled. We just wasted our money, time by waking up early on a holiday and spending 1,5h ride to Cancun and same back to Playa del Carmen. We moved the activity for Saturday and asked them to arrange a transfer for us because of their fault so the instructor called to his boss to manage this for us and he confirmed that we are going to have a pick up and drop off on Saturday. We should just double check on Friday evening if everything is in place. When we called them on Friday the phone nr didnt even work so the receptionist of our hotel called to a guy from Scuba Caribe in Playa del Carmen who of course didnt know what Im talking about so after I explained him everything he said he will call his boss and call us back asap. After an hour of waiting we called him again and he said that they can not arrange a transfer for us. After a while of complaining they agreed to pick us up on the way back to Playa del Carmen after the activity but not in the morning and that he recommends to take a taxi to be in Cancun on time.We didnt want to be even more concerned on our holiday so we left it go, but we were disappointed very much with the organization. The diving was great we saw what we wanted and the instructor was patient and showed us everything we needed so we felt very secure under the water.

This review is more about Scuba Caribe at Riu Cancun than about the scuba experience itself. Our instructor Angel was very nice, knowledgeable and nice. We did the lesson in the pool successfully and were pretty excited to get in the ocean. However the waters were SUPER rough that day and I got sea sick on the way to the dive site, as did my fiance who because of that couldn't actually go through with the dive. The worst part was that we were stuck on this little boat swinging side to side for about 2 hours while everyone did the 2 tank dive. This ruined the whole thing for me. There was no option to go back to shore or even go to Isla Mujeres which was only a few minutes away. I would up sick and sunburnt. Now the reason I am giving 4 stars not 1 is because even though we weren't able to go scuba diving the staff was very apologetic and since we could not get a refund they offered us to do another activity of our choice. So we chose Jet Skiing instead, and 3 days later when the sunburn hurt less and everything settled we took the Scuba Caribe van over to Riu Caribe and took the Jet Skiis out for about 45 min instead of the standard 30. We ar very happy with out Scuba Caribe experience. Thanks to Angel and Miguel at Riu Cancun Scuba Caribe. I would recommend them without a second thought.

This was awesome! Definitely the most fun thing we did all week! The instructor took his time to teach us the basics before heading into the ocean to do our two 30-40 minute dives. Definitely recommend!!

I have never dove before. This was an amazing experience. The whole crew was awesome and patient. The instructor took time to point out things during our dive that I would have missed out on otherwise. The only thing that I would add it to make sure that you bring some extra cash with you. There was an extra charge to board the boat. It was only 8 USD, and the money goes to preservation of the reef. Also, they don't have hotel pick up, but the public transit system is great there. I am already planning on doing this again the next time I am in Cancun.
