  • This was an interesting tour . Great guide and the time saved not waiting in line was wonderful. The climb to the top was worth the view!

  • One of the best tours we took! The guide was so informative and you just can't beat the views when you get to the top.

  • It was mass chaos at the Duomo during the Christmas break with hundreds of people in line. The lines are inevitable regardless of whether you have this tour or not. The lines are for security checks, which everyone must go through. We had a major mix up. After we found our guide, which was quite difficult with hundreds of people around, we got in the security line with her. She gave us radios and headphones, however mine had horrible sound quality, my son's didn't work at all, and it didn't really matter because the tour guide's accent was so thick that I couldn't understand her anyway. When we finally got up to the security guard the tour guide handed him a ticket for 20 people. The guard counted out 20 people and we got cut off. I'm not sure where the mix up happened, but we were not allowed in. A man in charge of the tour group agency saw what happened and pleaded with the guard to let us in, he would not. Our tour guide left with the rest of the group. The agency worked really hard to try and correct things and even offered to give us a private tour, but after an hour of standing in line, we really just wanted to see the dome and be done with it. Once we got inside, there were several more lines and it was very slow going up the stairs. It does take about and hour and a half with all the stopping. Again, this was a very busy time of year, and maybe it is not so bad in the off season. The dome is beautiful and the views from the top are stunning. It was definitely worth the headache. We have used Viator several times and this is the first time that we have encountered any problems.

  • Challenging but the view is worth the almost 500 steps. Coming down much easier. Make sure you have water on the way up.

  • A great experience which we would highly recommend. Our English speaking guide was very informative . The view from the top is breathtaking and well worth climbing the 463 steps for. My slight criticism is that, on occasion, we could not hear her commentary through our earpieces. The one thing I would say for this tour is that you must be relatively fit as it is a long and steady climb!

  • Could not always hear in the earphones or understand the English being spoken. But still was awesome and worth seeing

  • Skipping the line is a must and our Viator Guide was wonderful...once we were up top he took us aside and told us all kinds of interesting scoop on the dome and the city below. If you are claustrophobic or tire easily, best to stay on the ground and sip an iced coffee while you wait for your friends. Wish the head phones worked a little better but it seems to be the same for all tours. If you stand next to the guide it helps you to hear better.

  • The climb up and into the dome was worth the view from the top.
    I would highly recommend it.

  • Very informative guide who managed to keep us all on time and on the correct staircase as we climbed our way up the cupola.
He has an obvious passion for history and architecture and provided a very informative commentary.

  • Duomo Dome is amazing and a must see, although the headsets were terrible on the tour as they a lot of static so we could not really hear the guide at all times.
