Know More about this tour

Hop aboard an open-air safari-style truck from your Punta Cana or Bavaro hotel, and set out into the Anamuya mountains. During the rollicking ride, soak up the stunning seascapes and tropical countryside, dotted with pastel-colored cottages. As your knowledgeable guide provides engaging commentary, look out for horses, donkeys, hens and bulls grazing or resting in the shade.

Then, take to the lush agricultural landscapes by horseback, on an easygoing 25-minute ride through the sprawling grounds of a trapiche, or classic sugar plantation.

In addition to rum, the Dominican Republic is well-known for its cigars. At the trapiche, listen to generations-old master craftsmen explain how they harvest tobacco and roll them into sought-after cigars.

Break for lunch at a mountaintop restaurant pavilion, and dig into a delicious buffet with refreshing beer, smooth rum and non-alcoholic drinks to accompany your meal.
Then, visit a typical Dominican home to meet a local family and taste beloved treats such as just-plucked tropical fruits, freshly brewed organic coffee and pure cacao. Want something with more kick? Try a mamajuana, a Dominican drink of rum, red wine and honey.

Continue to Macao Beach where you will enjoy rest and relaxation at a private beach club. Take in the turquoise waters and white sand beach that will make you feel like you are in paradise.

  • I just recently went on this excursion about a week ago and it was overall a good time. You get to hear a little about the DR, try some mamajuana and visit a very nice beach in the end. My only real issue with this excursion was that our tour guide Alex slandered Haiti while we were on our way to our first destination. While talking about how rich the Dominican Republic is, our tour guide felt the need to state that the reason Haiti is so poor is because of the lack of foreign investment due to the Haitian peoples inability to stop fighting. While saying this, he makes a hand gesture pulling an imaginary guns trigger. Not only is this completely false and inappropriate, it further perpetuates the negative image of Haiti and the Haitian people that is pushed by western media. I think Alex is in need of a history lesson as to why Haiti is in the situation it is in instead slandering an entire country and their people. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say he just make a mistake but something tells me he was purposely insulting Haiti. I am aware of the relationship between the two nations and know about the Dominican Republic's historical racist treatment towards Haitians and dark skinned Dominicans that continue till this day and understand how that can cause ignorance. Hopefully he sees this and corrects his mistake.

  • A must if you want to really experience real life in the DR.We drove through many small towns, seeing schools and the children, the homes and businesses of the people. The farm lands and some of Irma's aftermath on this beautiful island. The people are so welcoming and hard working.Maria's house was very interesting and we loved learning about the coffee, cocoa, vanilla tobacco, seeing and tasting first hand how they are grown. We had a nice lunch and stopped for the horseback ride. That was a bit sad. Dogs run freely throughout the island and all are thin, the horses were very thin.I just wanted to give them food and water. Our guide Mimi and our driver were very entertaining.Mimi is the real deal!!!lots of laughter. We were picked up on time at our resort and had a great and memorable day! Plenty of water provided all day.

  • The best part of the tour is the lunch!! It was great Dominican Food! The food at my resort was awful so I was happy to get food here! Also the horse back riding and cigar making was awesome too! And the beach is nice! Be prepared to spend the whole day on this tour I left hotel at 830am and got back at 4pm!

  • One of thee best excursions available. The staff for the excursion was beyond hilarious and very informative. You get to experience alot of different aspects of DR culture and ways. The food was excellente, the making of cigars was remarkable.Hell yeah I would recommend this excursion

  • This tour was amazing. The tour guide was very knowledgeable of the route and all of the stops. Maria's house was very interesting. She was friendly and very pleasant. Planning to return back in 2017 and will take this tour again.

  • This was a great excursion and I appreciate the company calling me at my resort to see if I wanted to reschedule after they had to cancel the excursion on the day we went due to dangerous roads with water and blockage of the bridge we needed to cross. I loved it all except the horseback riding part. The way the excursion reads leads you to believe you will take the horses up a mountain. The terrain we were in was extremely muddy and nothing to really see it was just a big field and the horses seemed tired. So that part was a little disappointing. It would have been better if we actually went on a real trail or along the beach. Also at least been advised to bring proper clothing for getting all muddied up. Other than that this was a great way to spend the day and our guide MiMi was WONDERFUL!!!!! If you want to see a little bit of everything from the beach, the mountain, real coffee, cigars, and souvenirs this is the thing to do!

  • THIS is the tour everyone should take get a taste coffee, chocolate, pineapple, sugar cane..etc plus nice lunch. See the countryside, and then get on your knees for all you may take for granted. This is the only tour we took, and I'll always have lasting memories!!! Great tour guide!!!

  • wow, truly an amazing experience and our tour guide Alex delighted us with great information throughout the whole tour. Alex also pretty funny and made everyone laugh so that was a plus as well. The your itself was amazing, drove around the neighborhood, went to eat and then got to visit Maria's house where we got to see how to make cocoa and taste it and as well other stuff.

  • Sammy was great and the tour was informative. Seeing beyond the tourists attractions and experiencing the culture was worth every cent. I highly recommend it....and I went alone, but those on the buss made me feel like family!

  • Our guide J.J. was very informative and kept us laughing. We got to see how sugar cane juice is extracted, cigars are rolled, and we took a ride across the coffee plantation on horseback. Lunch was great. Real Dominican food. At Maria's House we explored how many dominican products are made and got to taste everything , yum!
