  • We chose this Douro tour because it visits three wineries and did not involve a touristy boat ride. Most of the tours went to two wineries and then the boat ride. We are so glad we chose this particular tour as our guide was very personable, kind and open to any questions we had. The stops were all different and enjoyable. The Douro Valley is absolutely stunning and our day was a joy. Lunch was delicious Portugal cuisine served with lots of wine and tremendous valley views. We are returning to Portugal in 2019 and will use the same company.

  • The Douro valley is absolutely beautiful and well worth visiting if you are going to Porto. Our drivers turned up on time, and we set off in two cars we were a party of ten, and there were four other people too for a most enjoyable day's wine tasting and scenery viewing. There were ample photo opportunities and we were lucky that the weather at the end of October was perfect - warm but not too hot. The three quintas wine estates were very different, but all beautifully located in the magnificent Douro countryside. We were able to visit both larger and smaller estates, and were given generous tastings, especially in the last vineyard where we were treated not only to red and white wine, but also to twenty year old tawny port - delicious! There are opportunities to purchase, but we were not at all pressed to do so. We had an excellent lunch at a local restaurant, with the tipsy cake speciality of the house for pudding - if you have a choice, choose it! We all very much enjoyed our day out, which was enhanced by the commentary from our driver who told us about how the port was made, and why they have to have the terraces and what the seasonal jobs were, and what made for a vintage port year. I would wholeheartedly recommend this tour.

  • This was very scenic and enjoyable. The guide was personable and kind. Our group was just the right size for fun. Lunch was peaceful and pleasant with nice views over the river. The first winery we visited was the best experience because they walk you through their port making processes and give you a nice selction of very different pours. The second winery was highly commercial and the girl running the tour was on automatic pilot. Not very personal at all, nor was their service. We only tried two pours here, but they were not very good. One was actually what they use to mix into mixed drinks and wasn't meant to be sipped alone. It was flourecent pink and tasted terrible. Why not make the mixed drink it tastes good in? After all, they kept describing these wonderful drinks while we sipped the shot dreaming of what it would be like if it were served properly. Woman never even said goodbye to our group and we were the only ones there in the enitre place on a slow day! Too commercial. Third winery was more like a restaurant. They briefly showed us where they stored their barrels and that was it. We got served by a waiter at a table in a lovely setting. I did enjoy this tour, but it is very casual and will not fulfill the interests of a sommelier. Having said that, it was still good port. I would recommend that this tour stick to promoting the smaller, local wineries where the service and integrity are stellar. It would have been better had we skipped Croft and headed to all boutique wineries instead.

  • This trip was amazing. We enjoyed the scenery and the choice of vineyards was very good. We liked that we went to three completely different vineyards - a nice mix. The guide was knowledgable and friendly. The lunch could have been better.

  • Worth every penny! Our guide George was very nice and each vineyard we went to was gorgeous. The third vineyard was our favorite. My only recommendation is that the driver should be equipped with a microphone. We sat in the back and was hard to hear all of the details as we drove into the valley.

  • We had a wonderful time and the guide was very helpful. Would recommend this tour to everyone wanting to experience the Douro Valley.

  • We loved this tour experience. Our friendly, knowledgeable guide was George. The drive to the Duoro Valley was just over an hour. We visited three small wineries for Port tasting, the last winery one offered red and white wine as well as Port. Each of the wineries were set in truly breathtaking locations, among valleys, mountains, and vineyards. We bought local Olive Oil at the first winery.. Our group ate lunch in a small village at a local restaurant that was selected by the tour company. The regional food was deliciously prepared and plentiful, plus red or white wine, choice of dessert, and coffee. We would never have known about this cafe on our own, it was an excellent local gem.

  • We very much enjoyed our tour of the Douro port vineyards, the lunch was truly great and authentic Portuguese cuisine. George, our driver and guide, was a very proud man of Porto. Good knowledge of the countryside, a good driver and provided very good background and historical information about Douro the vineyards and the production processes to get the various kinds of Port
A very good tour for us and an exceptional day

  • Strongly recommended everyone!

  • Excellent trip, the guide was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly and looked after us well.
The small group we were with, were all of a similar age and background and very friendly, which contributed to the enjoymnet of the trip.
We enjoyed the tastings and the variety of the places we visited, it was good that no pressure to purchase was made.
Lunch was excellent and most enjoyable and with a lovely view overlooking the river.
