Unbelievable time. Great dune bashing, beautiful desert, fun on quads and good show with a ton of food. Well worth the price.
I was content, did not have high expectations from an organised tour. Had a lovely time, did touch the sand, saw the desert, drove a squad bike and had a chance to try sand boarding. Evening meal was delicious especially the arabic bread baked on site!! Couldn't get enough of it. Entertainment was spectacular.
Behind all this there was the uncomfortable drive from city to desert in a cramped car as the company wanted as much tourist in one car as possible. So we were travelling like sardines in a box. Long trip if we include the dune dashing too. No chance to use bathroom facilities until the very end of the program when we got to the camp for the evening show and meal.
Sand dashing is not fun! You get really nauseous and you hope is going to end soon. Then you wonder how will you be able to eat.
Sand boarding is only allowed twice. Having only one board for six people we had to wait and then give up after our second try. I would have loved to go more and get a good sense of it as I have failed my two run.
Squad biking was interesting for me and had plenty of time to enjoy it, although the crappy helmet didn't help with the experience. It kept slipping down obstructing my vision.
We were told there would be fire performance during dinner unfortunately there wasn't. Other participants have done an excellent job performing. Loved the facultative programs before dinner.
It's worth going to the desert and taking home nice pictures but organised group adventures are never an exclusive experience.
Being picked up and dropped off from our hotel was the first highlight of this trip. The second was probably the Arabic camp and dinner which had reasonable food and typically cheesy entertainment. Everything else was disappointing. I thought we'd get to drive the 4x4 on the dunes as per other such experiences but instead we sat in the back of the vehicle, which was cramped, and got chucked around as the driver went round in circles and snake routes following four or five other vehicles. It was a little exciting for about ten minutes. The air conditioning barely worked and I got so hot I was sweating like a pig. Then it got a bit boring and headache inducing. We had no warning or guidance about what was happening, where we were going to next etc. We just entered the desert, tyre deflated and then got on the dunes. After stopping off for some photographs on the admittedly low and urbanised dunes, we got back in to the vehicle only to endure another twenty minutes of dune bashing. One of the other vehicles in the group broke down with a flat tyre so we got out while that was happening. Back in the vehicle for more bashing then eventually got to the place where we did ten minutes of quad biking in a circle. It was ok but hardly a decent run. Then called back into the vehicle for another journey to the main camp. We wanted to do some sandboarding. Without any explanation we were given one child size board and told to go up to a small dune and do it there. No help, no assistance or explanation. My friend gave it a go and the ride down the dune lasted about eight seconds. We avoided the camel ride (in the dark) as the camels walked about ten metres before returning and they looked as bored as we were. Thankfully we found the whole experience hilarious in how poor it was and enjoyed it for that but otherwise it was a disappointment. It could be the company running this don't care about customer service and making it enjoyable for those who book to go. I expect there are other companies who do. In the very least some conversation with the guide/driver would have been nice rather than chucked in and out the vehicle without any explanation.
The driver and the Desert Dune Bashing was the best part of this safari trip, the Quad Bike was ok, however circling in the same area/track for the 20 min was not fun and boring, the dinner was the worst part of the day, food quality was very bad and cold, no arabic coffee or dates as promised, the show was ok. In general, very disappointing experience.
An excellent day on this Desert safari.
Muscaut our guide was punctual, informative, an excellent driver.
Well organised, great fun and food.
Thank you so much.
Little Tariq was a fabulous host during our action packed desert safari! The 4x4 off road adventure was such good fun. Would highly recommend the VIP package as you get a lot for your money. Thank you!
Hotel pickup was around 3pm, and everything was exactly as planned out in advance. We returned by 9:30pm having spent the evening in the sand, riding quadbikes in the sunset at the lovely "Royal Adventures" Desert camp. Honestly, the camp at the end was the best part with shows, food, and more activities than time allowed. I was slightly disappointed that Sandboarding was NOT actually a part of the adventure, but the VIP table at dinner more than made up for that.
It is my first time to a desert terrain and I get to try a variety of activities. The guides are very friendly. I enjoyed the photo taking opportunities and the dune bashing. However, I think as there are many vehicles from different companies, it is difficult to do a high speed drive in the desert, but our guide did try to make it more exciting by his driving manoeuvres, which I really appreciate. The quad biking is within a small area (probably for safety and control) but still enjoyable. I missed out on the sandboarding though :( The complimentary camel riding is a good photo opportunity but not so much on the walk through the desert. The VIP table food is good! It is a good chance to experience the Arabian culture (abaya and henna for the ladies) and a wonderful performance by the dancers. Overall a good experience if you want to immerse in the Arabian culture. :D
We were picked up from our hotel in a jeep (in total 6 and a driver) and driven about an hour out to the desert. Once there we began our sand duning experience which was great fun we stopped off for some obligatory photos in the desert and with some camels where were given the opportunity to feed them to. We then continued on through the desert until we arrived at the camp where there were various activities to do including quad biking, camel riding, henna tattoos, dress up, shisha. Each jeep was allocated a table to sit at and eat, food was a buffet of traditional Arabic food which was tasty! After this there were two small shows from a belly dancer and fire performer. We were then all taken back to our jeeps to start the long journey back. Overall this trip was well worth it and a must do if you are going to Dubai to experience the desert. Only down fall was once at the camp you were left to your own devices with no time frame and things felt a bit rushed if you wanted to get the full experience and ty everything.
Great tour and well organised. Food was fantastic and plenty of, in fact too much food for the 2 of us. Our guide and driver Wasif Latif was very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this tour to friends and come again with family. Only down side was the bar staff were quite abrupt and unaccomodating.
