Overview

Got the morning or afternoon free in Dublin? Then explore Dublin Bay just outside the capital on this relaxing 4 hour tour. You'll take a wander through the beautiful estate of Malahide Castle and enjoy the fresh sea breeze and breathtaking views of Dublin bay from Howth Summit.

Know More about this tour

Your half-day tour starts with departure from central Dublin for the drive to Malahide Castle, where you'll enjoy a guided tour of this refurbished landmark that dates back to the 12th century. With your guide, wander the castle grounds, spanning some 250 acres, and keep your eyes or ears open for ghosts said to haunt the site. You'll see the private gardens of Lord Talbot, which have been opened to the public and are described by garden lovers as a small botanic haven.

Then visit the local craft shops or relax over a coffee and snack, if you wish (own expense), before continuing your tour with a coastal drive through picturesque Malahide to Howth. You have time to stroll around this pretty village before making your way to the summit of Howth for a photo op over Dublin bay. Less than one hour from the city, you'll enjoy a scenic respite.

Your tour ends with return to your pickup point.

This was a great trip! Our guide Trevor was very friendly and told us additional history along the way.

Everything was great although we could have spent more time in Malahide as the one hour slot was not enough to walk around the garden at all

Great tour and our guide was a lot of fun. Learned so much at the castle . Thanks so much for a fun afternoon

Our driver/tour guide was so energetic, funny. Had a lot of information about the area. Gave us good food recommendation too.

The guided tour at Malahide Castle was excellent. The guide was knowledgeable, articulate, entertaining, and accepting of questions from the group.

My only complaint would be that there was not a lot of guidance as to where to go with our free time (and included ticket!) to explore the gardens/lawns of Malahide Castle. Our group likely spent too much time wandering the lawn not understanding the significance of the trees/plants in that area when we would've rather been in the rose garden.

The price was great, the timing was great, and the views were phenomenal. Our bus driver was constantly cracking jokes and providing insight into historical and current aspects of all of our stops (and all locations in between). I learned more on this trip than I did any of the other activities we did in Ireland, and it was only a half-day!

We had great October weather for a ride up top on the Double Decker bus. Ian (not the proper spelling) was our very entertaining driver. He sang, shared some great local info and even gave us a little U2 trivia (bonus points). He was the life of the party.
Malahide Castle was lovely but I wish we'd spent a little less time there to allow for a little more time in Howth. It was a little rushed in this adorable and very windy seaside town.
Overall, this was a great 1/2 day trip to hit the coast without having to drive "on the wrong side of the road."

Connor and Tommy are excellent tour guides. Connor is very professional, smart, and very well versed with the sites, he gave us useful information all the way to our stops and back. We were entertained in a very educational way, he had jokes but good ones. And he knew what he was talking about. He has a great future in this industry, keep it up, kiddo!

The tour in itself was very good, the guided tour in the castle was very helpful to manage the time but would have wanted a full day trip instead to enjoy the other areas of the castle surroundings.

Also, the Howth stop was short, would have wanted to stay longer, which we were given as an option but it was also getting late already.

I had a great day out. I really enjoyed looking at the beautiful bay of Dublin and I loved staying in Howth so much that I stayed there the entire day. Eoin is definately the best tour guide ever in Dublin. He's funny and he wants to make sure that his passengers are having a good time. He's also very kind and clever. all in all had a great day out. thank you Eoin when I return to Dublin I won't hesitate to book another day tour with you. kind regards tina from Denmark

The logistics of checking in were fine. We found the bus well labelled and then just needed to go a very short distance to check in and receive our tickets.
The tour guide Padraig was great. As we drove through Dublin he constantly gave us information of where we were going. When we arrived at the castle, he lead us into the butterfly greenhouse which had many fascinating butterflies while he went to get out tour tickets for the castle. We were lead to where we needed to go and had a personal guide throughout the castle which was well done and very informative. We then had a small amount of time to walk the gardens but only enough time to see a very small portion of the extensive estate.
We then drove through the oceanside town of Malahide and then on to Howth. There we were driven through some beautiful residential areas as well as along the coast and then on to free time in the fishing village of Howth. Unfortunately, as we arrived there it started raining heavily but nonetheless we could walk around and even stop for refreshments before heading back to central Dublin, again with a constant description along the way.

The Malahide Castle was ok, the grounds around the castle were gorgeous. The Howth Village was the best part of day, great village with great food.
