Nothing exciting. Most of the time looking through fog. Interestingly the chairs swivelled in the opposite direction when the train travelled the returned journey. It stopped at the area of the cruise port and passengers walked a distance to get to their ship. I thought I saw a passengers train stopping at the wharf to pick-up passengers in the morning but this train did not.

Bus driver was fantastic.... loved Olveston House.... was disappointed with Coastal train wa told we could buy lunch on board as there was no time during the bus time. But they only had a sandwich or packet chips and chocolate bars....

In the Olveston house the people who conduct the house tour didn't bother to check if everyone was there before
they start the house tour.....then we are left outside and miss the house tour
someone i know went for the house tour and said the history of the house interesting...

    For the train ride.......
Not much to see.....a lot water and the trees blocking the view when you are on the train...
the train go along and then it stops and the tour guide made us stand up so he could rotate the seats....
then the train travel back the same way in reverse ....
The tour guide said there would be lunch provided on the train but there was only some tea and coffee...
Someone I know bought a coffee and it was very very bad
My advice.....if you are planning NZ holiday skip Dunedin

Interesting train trip with lovely views. The staff were all very nice and helpful too.
Olveston House was underwhelming but I guess we are spoilt for beautiful old houses in the UK and this was the best they had in Dunedin. Some of the content and furniture was also misdescribed - we had some real experts on our trip from the countries of origin. The house is basically a collection of things that some wealthy people bought on their world travels - its a real mix up and not necessarily of good taste.

The train ride was a virtual duplication of the bus ride from the port.

  • 05-Feb-2016

Olveston house very interesting. Train trip ok but not much to see.

  • 15-Jan-2016

The city tour was good but I was disappointed the coastal train. Overall it is very nice tour.

  • 30-Dec-2015

Relaxed and well serviced. Friendly and informative staff.
