Know More about this tour

This amazing tour starts with a relaxing drive through the picturesque area of Canovanas and Rio Grande, leading to El Yunque National Forest Park from your San Juan hotel. At El Yunque National Forest Park you will see and experience various rivers, waterfalls and walk through natural trails. This trip takes place on the heart of El Yunque rain-forest which has a path to one of the coolest spots in the park.

The initial hike/walk is a 25 to 35 minute journey up a dirt/rock path. This trail is surrounded by bamboo trees, rain-forest flowers, and many other beautiful plants. The first stop on this hike will be at a collecting pool that forms at the base of a waterfall! People usually take their time here and cool off in the refreshing waters. We will then learn more information while visiting El Portal.
After this stop (depending on the group pace this order may vary) we will take a break to have lunch (food cost not included). Before we go to our last stop, the natural water slides. This stop requires more moderate hiking over rocky uneven surfaces. After the hike, you will reach the destination at an amazing natural water slide! The water slide itself is about 20 feet long and it concludes with about a 10 foot drop into a collecting pool!

  • Wear closed toe shoes and don't expect paved trails. Guide was extremely knowledgeable and trip was enjoyable. Would definitely go again.

  • This truly was an amazing experience. Our guide, Alex, was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable about the forest and was always willing to answer our questions. The hike into the forest was the best part, especially the last waterfall. The market where we ate was very yummy, especially the smoothies. The rock slide was also a lot of fun and a great way to finish the day. Overall it was the best part of our vacation! Potential participants should note that this is not an easy hike. It is steep and it is slippery. You need to be fit enough to do the hike and you also need appropriate footwear.

  • This tour was amazing!

  • Be ready for a hike. Alex was a fantastic tour guide, his knowledge of the rain forest and its wildlife was great. Dont be scared of the natural rock slide its awesome!

  • This tour is truly an adventure, and highly recommended for those that want to challenge themselves and trek deep into a remote part of the rainforest. Alex was our guide, he was knowledgeable and in our case, very patient. We had a small group of six, and he lead us up a rocky ledge with many challenging hills that at times were muddy and steep. The beauty of the rainforest was a site to see and the view of the waterfalls was breathtaking. The natural rock body slide was fun, but rocks around it were pretty slippery, making it difficult for some that wanted to do it, but couldn't. The return trip was the same way we came, again the slippery mud made it a challenge, a couple of us taking some falls, but everyone worked together and we made it out safely. I want to emphasize how patient Alex was and offered a hand and guidance when we needed it, yet allowed us to experience this intense hiking tour for ourselves. Once the hike was done, Alex took us to other sites within the rainforest that were just as breathtaking, but much easier to get around. For lunch we stopped at a local road side food stand, the food was authentic Puerto Rican cuisine, it was delicious!

  • Good hiking, sightseeing, fun in the waterfalls and 'rock' slides and much more. Stopped at local lunch spot that was delicious. Our guide, Alejandro, was fantastic and made it a special day for all. Highly recommend.

  • Very good hiking trip, but much harder than we had expected. The description should list this as a difficult hike and not suitable for some people. There were very slippery steep sections that could be dangerous if you are not careful. That being said, the guide Alex was awesome. He took care of the entire group with professionalism and expertise.

The hike itself was a 1000' assent where we saw 3 waterfalls, lots of vegetation, and a few geckos. You take the same route back down the trail, but this can also be a challenge if it is wet. You were defiantly tired and dirty when this trip was complete. They also provided water bottles which you will defiantly want to carry with you.

Overall it was a great trip, but exercise caution if you are not in good shape and have good balance. Make sure you wear hiking shoes/boots, even though a good walking shoe will probably help. No open toe shoes.

  • This was an excellent excursion. Our tour guide Alex was outstanding. If you are thinking about doing this you need to know it really is an all day thing AND it is NOT an easy hike. I'm in pretty decent shape and I found the hike to the top of the waterfall fairly difficult. I wore running sneakers and slipped a few times. If you have actual hiking shoes you will fair better. You will get wet, sweaty and dirty. As long as you are expecting those things going in, you will have an awesome time.

  • It was a very enjoyable trip that is a bit different from the description. The initial hike was a bit longer than described and we went to two different waterfalls and pools for swimming. This part is very muddy, but really great otherwise and was the highlight for us. The restaurant was great, as described by others. The cliff slide was lots of fun, but certainly different from the description. We did not hike to it, but instead parked at an adjacent house. There was no cliff jump, and the slide ends directly in water, without any fall. Everything was lots of fun, but there was much less hiking than we expected for a hiking adventure.

  • The tour was excellent definitely worth the money. Our tour guide Jaime was EXCELLENT and very informative. We went for my best friend birthday. I definitely recommend Jaime for any tour as a tour guide he will make your experience phenomenal.
