Know More about this tour

Your full-day tour starts with hotel pickup in San Juan for the drive to El Yunque Rainforest, the only tropical rain forest in the United States National Forest System and a must-see if you're a nature lover.

Go on a hike to explore the different zones of the rain forest, and catch a 360-degree view of the forest and Atlantic Ocean during these 4 hours at the Forest. You can take a dip in a waterfall (optional) and learn about the natural history of the rain forest from your guide, who will tell you about its geology and ecology. Walk to the waterfall will take approximately 30-40 minutes each way. Hear about medicinal and toxic plants in the area, as well as pre-Colombian island history, and keep your eyes open for native wildlife. You might even learn some survival tips.

Afterthe hike, we will stop for lunch at a local restaurant (at own expense) before joining your guided nighttime bioluminescent bay kayak tour, which takes you into the mystical mangrove channels leading to Laguna Grande. Look into the water to see the glowing pyrodinium bahamense, microscopic planktons capable of producing natural light at the touch of your hand or paddle. Admire these amazing organisms up close as you paddle on a 2-person kayak through the mangroves for an estimate of30-minutes, and learn from your eco-tour guide about this fragile and unique ecosystem. Once reached the lagoon, you will have some time to play with the water (from within the kayak) and receive more information, before we head back to the mangrove channels for another kayaking journeyof approximately 30 minutes .Enjoy provided snacks at the end of the kayak tour before returning to San Juan.

** Due to hurricane Maria some areas of the Rainforest are currently closed. Rest assured, we continue to offer a similar experience on alternate trails and areas of the Forest and its surroundings **

  • If you do one thing in Puerto Rico, GO ON THIS TOUR!!! Alex was the most incredible guide and took us to amazing hidden spots in the rainforest, including a rope swing, natural water slides, and a hidden whirlpool! The whole tour is beautifully organized, with a perfect amount of downtime trekking in El Yunque can get very tiring, amazing food options for lunch, and very well informed guides who know everything about what they're doing. We booked this on a whim and it was easily one of the best days of my entire life-- I couldn't recommend this more!!

  • The rainforest was closed due to the hurricane we did receive a refund for that portion of the tour. We were able to kayak. We learned that December is not a good time for bioluminescence since the micro-organisms prefer warm weather, so set your expectations accordingly. However, the nighttime Kayaking is peaceful and beautiful. Many stars with canopies of trees. Lovely.

  • Airlines changed he date on our flight. Tour company was unwilling to accommodate so lost the full value I paid for this tour.

  • Very knowledgeable tour guide. Beautiful sights! Got to go into the bottom of the falls. Amazing lunch! Bioluminescent tour PR glassbottom tours was BREATHTAKING! Tour guides were sooooo much fun. Would recommend! Loved it!

  • Very fun

  • Great trip, need to describe the kayaking trip in detail beforehand.

  • El Yunque was awesome! Our guide Alex was great. Make sure you bring an umbrella or raincoat! You will get really wet.

BioBay was really cool too! It was fun kayaking in the pitch dark through the mangrove forest. The guides were fun and helpful. I got eaten alive by mosquitoes though and I even put on bug spray! Just be aware that the mosquitoes will get you!

Not enough time in between the activities to eat. The driver waited for us to finish but we were still really rushed.

  • El Yunque,
We took this tour on Wednesday Aug 23rd, later we found out that Wednesday's were extra busy, because it was one of the days the cruise ships dropped people for trips. Avoid Wednesday and Sundays. The waterfalls were super packed, no space to go enjoy them, but our guide Roberto did show us a special area and we were able to chill with just our group, so a special thanks for that. Roberto did a great job and told us about the plants, but since I had already rented a car, this rainforst part is something I should have just done on my own.

    Bio Bay Kayaking,
First of all, this is nothing like your photos show. I think your guides have been doing this to long and have lost their touch with customers. Constant barking of orders, slow down, speed up, constant push on the customers. Rush to get to the bay, it was a new moon, would have been nice and dark out, but the guys didn't want to wait, so they hand out smelling tarps to put over your head. Run your hand in the water for 5 minutes and see a few small glowing dots. Then start to head back, there are other tour groups and one much larger beat us on the return. So we all waited for that large group. We sat there for 20 minutes waiting for 2 other large groups to go ahead of us, in that time it did get dark, you could see the bioluminescents better, still nothing even close to the photos they show. The whole time we are waiting, the guides talk bad about the other tours, very off putting. We paddle back in the dark and get to listen to more yelling at customers, they really need coaching on their tones. When we did get back, they were nice and friendly again. Wont be doing this again.

  • El Yunque was phenomenal. From the experience

  • The rainforest tour was incredible and the guide was knowledgeable and educational. The kayaking on the other hand was disappointing. When we got out to the water we had to pull a tarp over our heads and could barely see a glow. The ride back in darkness was so terrible it was funny. Skip kayaking!
