This 6 HOURS tour will take you through the great Elqui Valley (Valle del Elquin) where you can find places with paths between vineyards and fruit trees, barren hills covered with vines and pisco factories (liquor extracted from grapes).

We will visit the city of Vicua where you can find its main square and the museum of the poet Gabriela Mistral. Also you can visit the salesroom of Papaya, the typical fruit of the area. Then we will enjoy lunch in a restaurant where food is cooked with sunlight!

Know More about this tour

Departing from the port of Coquimbo toward the Elqui Valley we'll drive for approximately 50 km.

From La serena we will make the first stop at the reservoir Puclaro, engineering work created for the reserve of drinking water and irrigation of the fields of the Elqui Valley. We can see a beautiful view to the river. We will stop here for about 30 minutes.

Later, we visit a Pisco factory where we will know the process of the distillate of the grape. We tour the plant, taste their products and visit the showroom. Our stop here will be for about 45 minutes.

After this activity, we visit the city of Vicua, its main square, the Tower Bauer. Then visit the Gabriela Mistral museum, where we will learn of the life of this great Poetess. Our stop here will last 30 minutes.

Then close to 1:30pm we will go for lunch at the town of Villaseca, famous for its delicious dishes that are cooked with sunlight. We will stop here for approximately 1 hour.

Time to start heading back to La serena after lunch. On our way we will stop in the sales center Papayas, typical fruit of the area, where you can buy different products made from papaya.

We will be back at Port of Coquimbo at around 4pm.

Muy lindo para conocer, un poco caro, pocos estacionamientos dependiendo del lugar y lugares para comer.

It was such a wonderful experience. Both my husband and I were very happy. The guides and drivers are very nice, friendly and know the city very well. Thanks to them, this trip was fun and happy. He took a lot of pictures of the two of us and introduced us to some great photo spots. I highly recommend them. I will come back again someday.

We booked this tour and were picked up at our Hostel el Punto at 8:30 am. The guide Filipe spoke fluently English and was very inspiring and enthusiastic telling a lot about the Elqui Valley, guiding us around very professionally. We had enough photo-stops and he offered me even to sit on the front seat to enable me to take better pictures while driving. The highlights like a visit to the dam and the Pisco area were brilliant as well as the provided lunch. One tip: although La Serena can be cold and windy in November, once you are in the mountains it is very hot up there, so take care of that by choosing smart clothings.

We had a fabulous tour. Our guides and driver were knowledgeable, and very welcoming. We saw a cross section of the local landscape and culture. The stop at the distillery was very informative and tasty. Our lunch cooked by the sun was superb.

This tour was excellent. It was through Indoor America-Top Private Tours. The guide was very knowledgeable and could speak good English. Both the driver and guide were friendly and we had an enjoyable day with them. We went through La Serena city and seen the avenue of statues, lighthouse, main buildings and Le Recova market. Driving through the beautiful Elqui Valley country side stopped at Moya River on the way up to the Reservoir Puclaro. We visited the Pisco factory with stops for tastes and then on to have lunch which was all cooked by the sunlight in little cook boxes was very interesting. After lunch we made an extra stop at a local brewery tastes of the beers. This was above what the tour offered. We had an awesome day and I would highly recommend this to anyone in the La Serena area of Chile.
