Next, watch the "Bound for Oregon" feature film. This 25-minute movie is based entirely on the diaries of real pioneers who lived through the 2,000-mile journey, and shares the true joys and tragedies experienced on the Trail.
Then enjoy the Oregon City exhibit to find out what happened to pioneers after they arrived in their new home. Displays made by the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde about Native American life in the areaoffer a unique perspective on Oregon's history. Ask an interpreter for help researching your own pioneer roots using the genealogy resources available here, as well.
Outside of the interpretive center, continue learning in the heritage garden, interpretive trail, and Abernethy Green - where many pioneers spent their first winter in Oregon. Also swing by the state and county visitor welcome center to receive complimentary travel information from friendly tourism experts and browse a wide selection of local products, snacks, and educational gifts.
