Ephesus and the house of the Virgin Mary were interesting, but the rest of the tour consisted of a drive by of the Temple of Artemis, now a single column in a field, lunch, and then about 2.5 hours devoted to visiting a rug and ceramic shop that applied the cruise ship sales technique. We did get a chance to spend about an hour in a local port city to kill time as well. The tour could have visited museums or taken us to other sites, but wasted time on rugs and pottery. The guide was visibly annoyed when my wife asked her why we were visiting the rug factory (commission ?). Overall, a bit light on antiquity but an interesting trip.

It rained while we were there but it was worth it! Tons of things to see and lots of stories to be heard. I had business in Istanbul but made it out there and back in a single day. Our tour guide arranged everything from hotel pick up to end of day hotel drop off. I was worry free and really enjoyed the trip. It's a must visit if you are in Turkey

The entire trip from Istanbul to Izmir and back was smooth with people meeting us at each stage. While the one day trip made for a long day, it was definitely worth it. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and provided glimpses into the history and the setting of the places that we visited. We found the trip balanced in the level of detail - which was appropriate for our tour group. I would recommend this to trip.

This trip was incredible. It was a perfect day -- an excellent tour guide in Ephesus, stress-free transportation all throughout the day to include my rides between my Istanbul hotel and Ataturk airport, as well as rides to and from the airport in Izmir, and staff who were friendly, more than willing to help, and possessing a strong command of English. I highly recommend this particular tour if you're coming to Turkey, especially because it's an easy day trip from Istanbul and the tour company will make it unforgettable.
