  • Know More about this tour

Welcome to Sydney, one of the most vibrant and panoramic cities in the world. Your sightseeing tour starts with pickup at your hotel, where you'll meet your guide for your introduction to the best the city has to offer.

Your first destination is the historic Rocks precinct, the birthplace of Sydney, home to convict-built cottages, pubs, and the first church in Australia. Then head east to the Royal botanic gardens, passing by Macquarie Street, named after the fifth Governor of New South Wales, Lachlan Macquarie. Here you will see Australias first Parliament House, The mint, Hyde park Barracks, and St Marys Cathedral. Continue to Mrs Macquaries Chair situated on the waters edge, where you can take a walking tour of the harborfront with views of Sydney harbour bridge and the Sydney opera house.

Return to your tour vehicle to continue through Woolloomooloo, Kings cross, and into Rushcutters Bay, where you'll stop for lunch at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, the countrys premier yacht club and home to what is considered yachtings Everestthe Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

After lunch, head through Darling Point, one of Sydneys most affluent suburbs, and see some of the city's most sought-after addresses. Pass by Double Bay, Rose Bay, Vaucluse, and Watsons bay before traveling along the coastline to Sydneys most famous stretch of sand, Bondi beach. Here you have some time to soak up the atmosphere of this coastal hotspot; stroll down the esplanade with the locals, and maybe enjoy an ice cream (own expense) before re-boarding your vehicle. Return to the city via vibrant Oxford Street and the suburb of Paddington, a boutique shopping precinct known for the charming Georgian and Victorian architecture of its homes.

Your tour ends with hotel drop-off.

Overall, while the sites were great, the tour was very informative due mostly to the tour guide / driver Matt. He was a intelligent, informed person while being fun filled and pleasant. Matt made a good tour great.

David conducted our tour. He was polite, knowledgeable, and I liked the cheeky commentary thrown in. It was a great tour and a good way to help me familiarize with Sydney. David was very flexible in our schedule which made the tour enjoyable. Also he takes a pretty good picture for you when asked too.

On the 1rst day of the year 2020 our family went on a private tour with John. What a tour! We were taken to all important places and John explained everything not only about the history, but also (and we liked that especially) about the social change of the places he showed to us, of the devellopment of the city in the past and about future plans. And he took us to places that were not on his plan, but we were interested in and had asked him for. So interesting, so fascinating and it could not have been so great without John. Thank you again!

The Sydney tour was exceptional. The history, the sites, the buildings, the gardens, all of it great. Hugh made us feel welcome and it was a great time. I was blown away by Gap Bay and thought lunch at the Cruising Yacht Club was over the top. Ask for Hugh if possible - he made it fun for us and we enjoyed his scottish accent.

Our driver Hugh had excellent local knowledge and did an excellent job in getting us around the city. Went out of his way to ensure our lunch was served as expected and it was served on time. Would recommend this guide service to others who would like a good overview of Sydney.

Sydney is Sydney. Historic. Cultured. Inspiring. It's not a hard sell. And of course, our Essential tour captured this. But our guide, Hugh, elevated it from enlightening to sublime. FYI: he's Scottish! Admittedly, at first I thought, "Whoa. What's some Scottish dude know about a city in Australia?" As I soon learned, sooo much more than probably most locals themselves. Hugh fell for Sydney while visiting years prior. So he immersed himself in its sights, sounds and history. Now look: he's an Aussie Jedi. And his passion for Sydney shines. Sure, he doesn't know it like a native. He's better: he knows it like a super-fan. His energy is infectious, and it makes tours like these that much more enjoyable. Wherever you are, Hugh: g'day mate!
