  • I highly recommend this tour. However, the participants have to be aware that it is not a walk on a flat piece of land and they have to be equipped with the good shoes for the mountains. Our guide has all the necessary the shoes for walking and the helmets for visiting the caves. We had a change to have a fantastic sunny day!

  • We very much enjoyed the outing. Ernesto, our guide and driver, was terrific. Knowledgeable and very personable. He took special care to make sure each of us got the most out of the experience. Mt. Etna is a fascinating place, and Ernesto has great respect for its environment. We highly recommend him and the tour.

  • The tour itself was fine but the guide was a disappointment. He did not give very much information about Etna and volcanoes in general, and gave even less information regarding the tour itself. Aside from the information on the website describing the tour, we did not have an idea of the structure of the day - how long would each stop be, how many stops we would be making, should we pick up a snack to eat along the way or will we be stopping for lunch, etc. The main walk was about 1.5 hours long, not 3 hr as the website described. He walked a steady pace and did not engage much with the group as we walked, though he would answer questions if asked. Often the gap widened between him and the group because the group would stop here and there for photos, a sip of water, or just to enjoy the views while he kept his pace. Before we knew it, we were in the city and returned to our hotel by 2 pm, starving and feeling rather short-changed. While the guide seemed to be a nice man, it seems he just did not have the enthusiasm required for this job.

  • Guide Lanfranco was super knowledgeable and even provided walking shoes and poles. Really enjoyable experience!

  • The trip was as described, but we didn't get back to Catania until about 5pm. Not that I'm complaining, but just think it's important to note in case anyone has any other plans the same day! My only criticism is that our guides didn't provide very much information along the way. They were perfectly nice people and happy to answer questions when asked, but just weren't very forthcoming with information. I found this disappointing after reading other reviews about how knowledgeable the guides were.

If anyone like me! is concerned about the toilet situation, there are none during the 2-3 hour hike, but there is an opportunity to visit facilities both before and after that. But I'd advise bringing some of your own toilet paper!

  • We were picked up on time from our hotel, guide spoke English and very knowledgeable about mt etna .we were taken off road so that we could see lava flows from previous flows. We later stopped and went for a walk up to 2000 mtrs this was really exciting but hard going due to the terrain. the only disappointment was that this was it . We did not go up to 2500mtrs where we could of purchased gifts or souveniers. we arrived back at hotel at 2pm instead of 3.30-4.00pm we expected.
As this was a once in a lifetime experience we did not get the full experience which we had expected.

  • The actual hike part of the tour was very nice with lovely views of Etna and craters. The guide I feel could have done much better.

  • Amazing views in amazing company! Thanks to our great and knowledgeable tour guide Marco, our trip was unforgettable. Marco picked us up from our hotel early in the morning and advised that no trip is ever the same as it always has to be tailored to the weather conditions and other people's health conditions. We were lucky to be in a small group of quite fit and advanced hikers so everyone could keep up with each other. We saw some amazing scenery and learned a lot of volcanos and geology. Marco is super intelligent, funny and interesting person! We were very lucky to have him as our tour guide! Thanks again for an amazing day Marco! We hope to see you again when we visit Sicily in the future!

  • We messaged Viator in America for the contact number of the local tour operator so we could confirm pick up etc. The tour was excellent and Lanfranco has a good knowledge of the local area. He paced the tour well and we had lunch at a fabulous vantage point. Recommended.

  • This is an amazing tour, I didn and #39;t regret a single cent of it.. Our guide franco is energetic and friendly.. highly recommended
