Departing Munich at 10am, you start your day with a visit to Zugspitze. This day trip takes you through directly into the foothills of the Alps and its green valleys. Passing the picturesque houses of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the bus climbs with you already the first altitude meters to the valley station of the Zugspitze, the highest mountain of Germany with 9,788 feet (2,962 meters). With the new cable car we will reach the mountain peak in a few minutes. After you have enjoyed the exhilarating view over 400 peaks in Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland, there is still enough time to strengthen yourself in the restaurant (vegetarian or halal available). Special fun in the summer prepares the free bobsleigh or hike on the eternal ice. The descent takes place with the historic Cogwheel train.

Booked through Viator on grey line tours from Munich to the Zugspitze with my family. The ride there was comfortable in a double-decker bus with large windows to see the scenery on the way, The cable car trip up the mountain was breathtaking, Up top, there was great views all around and fun to walk from Germany to Austria. My kids loved the part of time given in the lower section where they sled on the snow in August! There was plenty of time to take pictures and have fun. The cogwheel train return was interesting with nice views. Our tour guide Debbie was fun and interesting and gave us lots of information on the area.
This trip would have warranted 5☆ despite the mixed weather conditions but for the guide. I have never heard a guide talk so much and say so little so watch out for Peter....
The trip itself was spectacular but even in July it was 5°c with a cold wind. However, once the cloud lifted the views were to die for! We had over 2.5 hours at the summit, which was plenty of time to grab a bite to eat and take as many photos as we wanted. The trip down on the cog wheel train took 1hr 20 but was a really interesting trip and the train itself was a true feat of engineering! If you have the time - don't miss this trip!
Unfortunately it was really cloudy so we had no view at all, but i’m Sure it would have been amazing if it hadn’t been cloudy
love seeing zugspitz and this tour did a great job.
Great time, very good tour guide a lot of information, we really enjoyed. We didn't have the perfect weather to see all the beautiful mountains but we had a great time.
must see if you have the time
There are no words to express such an exciting eperience
The Monastery tour was a little disappointing. More of an in-and-out thing. We didn't get to see the brewery since it was closed, and there was a service going in the church, so it was a bit weird trying to go in to see how it looked.
Zugspitze is quite the experience. Would recommend, but just be aware that the weather at that altitude is highly variable. Don't expect to see four countries... GO expecting to see some breath-taking mountain scenery, and then be really happy if you get a clear day and can see everything.
Beautiful tour and just the right amount of time spent at each site. Elisabeth was informative and fun!
