Know More about this tour

The original evening volcano adventure and still the best! From lava tubes and waterfalls to the current eruption glow and activity this adventure has it all. Start with a drive through quaint Hilo town where youll drive along the historic waterfront before turning off the highway and onto the 4 mile Onomea Scenic Route for some of the very best scenery in Hawaii. The drive is punctuated with waterfalls, springs, streams and stunning tropical gardens. The adventure continues at Akaka Falls State Park, the site of the largest easily accessible waterfall on the island. Youll traverse a paved walking path right through the center of a lush rainforest to Akaka Falls, a stunning 442 foot waterfall that plunges down a sheer cliff and into the water below. Head back down the Hamakua Coast before arriving at Rainbow Falls. This iconic waterfall features an 80 foot tall twin waterfall system. Look for the rainbow effect that gives the waterfall its name!   Explore Kaumana Caves, part of the lava tube system that brought lava 1.5 miles from Hilo-town in 1881. Take a peek inside the dramatic cathedral-like space, and then its on to the famous Volcano Winery, the southernmost winery in the United States. Youll sample up to eight different types of wines, varying from sweet to dry, and all with a unique Hawaiian flare. The Volcano Winery also has estate grown teas to taste and soft drinks and water are also included. After sampling beverages, youll enjoy a hearty Hawaiian-style BBQ lunch with a complimentary glass of your choice of Volcano Winery wine or other beverage. Complete the day viewing the glow and activity from the current volcanic eruption if its available from a safe distance before returning.

Seeing the glow of the lava. Walking through the lava tubes. . Courtney was a great guide. She definitely knows her islands history

Fantastic tour. Our guide, Kyle Dorland, was just the best - knowledgeable, fun and enthusiastic. We stopped several times to walk on and among the lava fields, through a huge lava tube and after dark we got the most fantastic view of the Kilauea caldera with erupting lava. So impressive. We loved it, great tour.

Seeing lava breaking through the caldera floor was just a spectacular experience. Great tour guide (Kyle) - everything was well organized. Recommend 👍

Adam was a excellent tour and a great driver. It was a very long day but well worth it. Favorite part was the lava tube cave

This tour was by far the best tour we did. Marci is one of the best tour guide I have ever toured with. He was very informative and very knowledgeable.

Marci and Kyle were the best. You get so much information on volcanoes and the island. We enjoyed it all.

It was a LONG day with many interesting stops. We learned a lot about the volcanic history of The Big Island and the science of eruptions and lava flows. There were 11 of us in the tour van, and our guide drove safely, was knowledgeable, and took good care of us. He had jackets and umbrellas for us, but we wished we had taken long pants for the latter part of the day in the higher elevations

I am normally not one to book a group tour. I was hesitant to pay this money for a 7-8 hour day without an escape plan. I am so grateful I took the risk. Krystal is wicked smart, down to earth and an excellent story teller. My daughter is 10 and not once did she say she was bored. I wish Krystal could have been my science teacher growing up. She makes learning so approachable. She weaved the culture, beauty and sites of Hawaii seamlessly. I thought the tour was a fair price for the time. There is no way I would have picked out the best vantage points or been able to decipher the nuances of my surroundings without her. Excellent tour

Tour was great! We learned so much about the history of the island and volcano. Tiffany was our tour guide and she was so friendly and helpful! Thank you Tiffany for the photos and for a great experience.

This is an excellent tour that you should do if you have the time in Hilo. They provide everything needed - hotel pickup at Grand Naniloa, snacks and drinks and flashlights and jackets for the after dark hike to the lava flow and tube walk. Special shout-out to our guide Tiffany who kept us entertained and laughing all day and night. She is truly first class and loves what she does and that shows. Great dinner with drinks at a local spot before the hikes after dark. This is a must do for the Big Island. You won’t be disappointed.
