Wow! This was an intimate gathering with amazing company and food from start to finish. Felt like I had experienced five star cuisine and the host and chef were very personable. I was traveling on my own and recommend this for a group, couple or solo traveler. There was nothing typical about this meal - special from start to finish.

This was such an enjoyable evening!! Highly recommend.

This was an excellent experience. So much pleasure, wonderful cuisine, perfect hosts, and wonderful wines. Worth every penny! Our main course was a remarkably delicious and perfectly seasoned roasted pigeon. Fellow guests dined on the results of a great cooking class. We shared and talked and laughed and traded stories over a beautiful table in a comfortable room overflowing with art, cookbooks and comfy ambience. Don't miss this opportunity.

Hands down best food in Florence! I am still dreaming of the fresh burratta, risotto and quail! What a fabulous evening.
-
Good quaint experience. The food was excellent and the host gracious. Keep in mind that if you don't do the cooking class with this you come in to a group already established and eating. Other than that we truly enjoyed the experience.

Thank you for the great meal!

Extremely nice dinner in the apartment of a warm, friendly couple. There were nine guests, and the conversation was lively. We would recommend it without hesitation.

God, I loved this. I'll start with the apartmentvery traditional, Italian, high ceilings, wooden floors, open windows, in a quiet section of what I believe was the Santo Spirito neighborhood. The dinner is offered by Chef Varinia Vary and her husband Edouardo Edo, who acts as a kind of entertainer/waiter/sommelier/busboy. Varinia's food is delicious, and the time between courses was neither too short nor long. We had nine people in total I was the only solo person, and quite a bit younger, but no matter!just the right amount of people for a lively, but intimate dinner experience.
The only thing I found a bit confusing/offputting was that three of the couples had done a cooking class together with Varinia before we arrived, so three of their four courses were dishes they'd just prepared, while three of us, who hadn't signed up for the cooking course, were served something different. It would've been nice to have all been on the same ground.
For the three of us who didn't attack the cooking class: we had halves of tomato filled with both burrata and mozzarella, and a piece of bruschetta for our appetizer delicious! a faroe dish with pear, onions, chickpeas for our primi nice and light, though not my favorite and a delicious pork pot pie with carrots and a flaky pastry crust for our main. The couples who partook of the class had squid ink ravioli, seared octopus with a sort of panzanella salad, and one other course which had escaped my memory.
Varinia, who's a trained chef, is quite a characterboisterous, loud, kind, with a tough exterior that belies a big heartand she and Edo are well-traveled. They go to Asia every summer, where she's able to try new things and test new flavors, so don't expect an insular old Italian woman.
You'll have a fantastic time, and there'll be plenty of wine!

Fantastic meal in a local home with warm hospitality. The quail and duck course was superb. I would highly recommend this experience as being the best way to meet and eat an authentic local meal, as well as meeting fellow travelers. Thank you chef Vary and Edouardo!
