Know More about this tour

Alexandria is one of the biggest cities bordering the Mediterranean. It was founded by Alexander the Great in 334 B.C. (It is generally believed that his tomb is still there.) It was divided between the local Egyptians, the Greek rulers and the Jews, and then it became the capital of Egypt along the Greek, Roman, and Byzantine rule for more than 10 centuries until the Arab conquest in the 7th century A.D.

Alexandria was the second most powerful city of the ancient world after Rome. The city has a lot to offer for its visitors and during this tour you will start early at 7am with your qualified Egyptologist tour guide, in your private, modern a/c van (Wi-Fi on board) and proceed to Alexandria (about a 3-hour drive) where you will visit the following:

The catacombs of Kom el Shoqqafa (one of the seven wonders of the Middle Ages) (mummification and cremation were used)
Pompey's pillar (84 feet high) (monolithic stone)
The temple of Serapis (Serapeum) and its complex
The fort of Qaitbay (site of the ancient lighthouse, Pharos) (a great view of Alexandria)
The New Library of Alexandria (Biblotheca Alexandrina) with a locally guided tour inside (optional visits to museums and pla
The Roman Amphitheater and some of the monuments discovered under water

Lunch in a seafood restaurant overlooking the Mediterranean sea is included and at the end of the tour you will be transferred back to your hotel.

Really enjoyed this tour to Alexandria to see the main tourist sites. It seemed a little rushed as in takes almost 3 hours to travel to Alexandria and 3 hours to return to Cairo. But I am glad we did take the tour. The lunch was excellent.

This was our first time visit to Egypt based in Cairo and Giza, and a trip to Alexandria is a must do if you want to know more about Egypt. Our nice tour guide Ahmad is very knowledgable and very accommodating to our needs, and has a very skilled and experienced driver by his side too, given the long journey on the busy streets! They made us feel especially safe throughout. The lunch was fulfilling and we had a great time. I recommend this tour especially my guide Ahmad and his driver.

Timing and transport was just fine. Inclusions listed and we didn't get until after we requested them were wifi access and bottled water you have to take in note that is as 3 hour ride to Alexandria so the pick up was at 7am and we were able to drink water until lunch at 2pm, also had wifi access until I requested it again at lunch. Another thing I disliked was that since we got into the transport the guide imediately highlighted that Alexandria is NOTHING like the traditional Egypt we would expect, that Cairo shows 2K years BC and Alexandrias is just 200 year old so is was like yesterday so the expectation of Alexandria was on the floor before we even got there. The good highlight of the tour is Alexandria's Library which is amazing and beautiful a complete work of art.
