Know More about this tour

Depart from Lisbon in a comfortable bus and head to bidos, a medieval town built in 1282 by King Dinis for Queen Isabel on their wedding day. See the 45-foot high walls of Pousada do Castelo, designed to protect the village. Continue on to Alcobaa to visit the Alcobaa Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest church in Portugal. Admire the stunning Cistercian art and the ornate tombs of King Pedro and his beloved Queen Ins.

Stop for lunch in colorful Nazar, a traditional Portuguese fishing village. If time permits, head to Stio to take in the stunning views of beach and ocean. Then, kick off the afternoon with a trip to Batalha Monastery, another World Heritage-listed site. Admire the beautiful stained-glass windows and the Manueline-style Royal Cloister.

Next, travel to the town of Ftima, home to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Ftima, a center of Catholic faith and a globally important pilgrimage destination. Housed in the basilica are the tombs of Lcia, Francisco, and Jacinta, peasant children who, despite threats, never denied witnessing the apparition of the Virgin Mary. The most important part of the shrine is the Chapel of Apparitions and schedule permitting, you may be able to attend mass here. On the way back to Lisbon, travel on a scenic route through a rich agricultural area.

The tour was more of a means of transportation. While the guide was nice he did not explain any of the sites. We could have taken a bus. To me, tour implies that some information regarding the sites will be explained. We received very little information.

One basically is hiring a driver and not a tour guide. Driver was nice but provided no or very little info while dropping us off in front of sights and told us to go in and look around on our own.
