This beautiful horseback ride combines the Majestic Flame Azalea and the lush Fern Forest for a really enjoyable trail ride for everyone.You start up the mountain traveling through a hard wood forest filled with wild Flame Azaleas. After the hardwoods, you enter an enchanting white pine forest just like in the Star Wars movie! From the pines you emerge in a beautiful open meadow at 4200ft of elevation with majestic 30 mile views out to the Blue ridge parkway. You will think you are in the legendary movie"Sound of Music." This is an amazing experience. Descending the top you travel through an old youth camp.Next, youenter an enchanting lush, deep wood, fern forest. It meanders through a dense forest before returning to the barn. This is a 200 acre working horse farm. Plan at least 2.5-hours for your adventure as Trail Time is approximately 80-Minutes plus your Safety Program.

Some RIDING TIPS:

  1. Horses don't know they are big. That's why we can control them with the bit in their mouth.
  2. Horses think like little children and expect you to protect them.
  3. You NEED to know this. Whoever is most stubborn wins. You need to be more stubborn than the horse.

    We had a good time. My particular horse Ed was a bit contrary. Be sure to check which trails you book in advance. We did the combo of fern/ azalea which I didn’t know upon booking. It was a very long ride with very steep hills, rocky , you will brush trees and branches and it’s very uneven. About 2.5 miles and took a little under two hours. There was one lookout spot that was beautiful but the rest was trees, hills and brush not the breathtaking views I thought we would see (as the website shows) These trails seem to be for a medium to advanced rider. You watch a long 30min home video of do’s and dont’s before you ride and they do provide helmets as well. Not sure we will be back again but overall glad that we experienced the ride.

    Is absolutely beautiful and the people are very helpful and knowledgeable. The horses are super nice and gentle souls.

    First time riding and Spike (the horse) was a wonderful host. Went during the fall and had a wonderful of the mountain side. Recommend for everyone.

    We unfortunately had a flat tire on the side of the mountain and were not able to make it. They were very rude and not helpful at all about the situation. Things happen but they were not willing to work with us at all. Would not recommend.

    Great guide and beautiful scenery, very calm and relaxing horse ride through the mountains. Learned a bit of history as well. Horses are very nice.

    It was much further out from Asheville than we expected but definitely worth the trip. Josh was an amazing tour guide.

    Ride was nice. The into video was ridiculously long and could have been told to us while getting on the horses. 3::30 trip wasn’t done until 6:45.

    My wife and I came on our honeymoon all the way from Texas, and not only was the horseback riding fun, but the whole experience was beautiful, serene, and quite comfortable. Our guide, Joshua, was very knowledgeable and spoke up for people in the back. We also weren't expected to do much that you couldn't learn during a quick walk-through. Even the drive up the mountain was wonderful, though a little scary if you obey the speed limit😅 (Lots of switch-bqck curves)
