A great way to enjoy an evening making pizza and eating gelato. Katarina is an absolutely gem! Recommend to anyone looking for a fun evening in Florence.
Very friendly, easy going cookery class. First time I’d made pizza and it was edible! Will try again when I get home.
The class was a lot of fun. Learned some great tips on authentic pizza and how to look for good authentic gelato versus not so good gelato. We each made the dough and created individual pizzas with a choice of toppings. As a group, we made gelato. Wine was served with our pizza and gelato. We all received certificates and cookbooks at the end of the class. It was well worth it.
We had so much fun with Tommaso! The class was informative but moreover fun and entertaining! I was looking for something to do with my 20’s kids and this was it! Definitely try it!!!
Went with my wife and daughter who is studying abroad and had a great time learning how to make pizza and gelato and then enjoy eating it. Alain was a very good host and instructor who shared a lot of tips about cooking and Italians culture. Definitely recommend.
We had a wonderful experience in this class. The instructors Catarina and Martina are both knowledgeable and super friendly. They went out of their way to ensure we all had a great time, but also left with some new skills we can use at home. The pizza we made was surprisingly simple to make, but very tasty and the gelato was outstanding. The tour is well recommended!
This was such a fun filled class. The pizza and gelato that we made was amazing and the wine wasn't bad either!! They send you home with lots of recipes. Definitely a fun time! Perfect for children too.
Class was OK. Instructor was ok, food was ok, format could have been better. Instead of teaching all steps at once and assuming people will remember, they should go through the steps one by one. Pizza also wasn't a typical Italian brick oven, so it didn't come out looking like you might expect.
Also, you don't really "make" gelato - individually. It is more of a group thing where she tells you how and one person helps and that is it.
I would recommend looking around for some other tours first.
Who wouldn't want to make pizza and gelato in Florence? We didn't give the class 5 stars for a couple of reasons. One, the meeting spot was a 12-15 minute walk from the cooking school. I understand they wanted to meet in a central location (near the Apple Store), but I'm sure they could have found a closer location. Second, the chef showed us how to make the pizza, but not with us. After she completed her pizza, she goes, now it's your turn. You kind of need a good memory to remember all of the steps. I wish we were able to follow along at the same time. We also made chocolate gelato while we were waiting for the dough. She showed us how to make it and asked for two volunteers. After it was time to roll the dough and put toppings on our pizza. There were plenty of toppings to choose from. Being a vegetarian, I am glad everything was in separate bowls. My pizza was fine, not amazing. They also served wine with the pizza. If you're looking for a pizza making activity, I would sign up. Personally, it just wasn't my favorite class.
Great chefs! Great fellowship! And the pizza turned out great too! John was very engaging and funny. The pizza chef was also really informative! I would take the class again!
