Know More about this tour

Start your day with a pickup from your central Rome hotel, or alternatively, hop aboard your coach in the center of town, near Rome Termini Station. Leave Rome and travel north to the picture-perfect region of Tuscany, passing through the green valley surrounding Tevere River and hills blanketed with olive groves and vineyards. Your destination of the day is beautiful Florence – the region’s equally charming capital.

First stop in the city is the world-famous Accademia Gallery (Gallerie dell'Accademia ), home to Michelangelo’s original David sculpture, which, of course, you will see on your tour! Head inside to see the Accademia’s highlights with your expert guide, learning about Michelangelo’s unfinished Quattro Prigioni – a sculpture of prisoners trying to free themselves from the marble in which they are carved – and see Botticelli’s Madonna and Child among other noteworthy works.

Leave the museum and set off on your walking tour to see top city attractions like Florence Duomo (Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore). Admire the cathedral’s distinctive orange dome, designed by Renaissance supremo Fillipo Brunelleschi, and then admire Giotto’s Bell Tower – another Renaissance masterpiece.

Stop near Piazza della Signoria to enjoy lunch in a typical Florentine restaurant, and then continue your walking tour to the Basilica of Santa Croce to see where Michelangelo is buried. Finally, visit one of Florence’s famous leather-making schools, where you’ll also learn about other ancient Tuscan crafts such as gold metal work and mosaic making.

Return to your coach with your guide and return to Rome, finishing your tour back at your hotel. Alternatively, you can finish your tour with a drop off at Via Veneto, Piazza Barberini, Piazza Venezia or Piazza della Repubblica; simply let your guide know on the day.

  • Great trip!

  • A good introduction to Florence.

  • Good tour of museum. The bus ride was really longI think it would have been better if you were on a high speed train. Not much time for shopping.

  • I am only giving this one star because I have to, zero does not seem to be an option. For starters, the trip to Florence took much longer than they said. We left Rome at 7:30 and we did not get to the museum housing the David until shortly before noon and entered the museum around 12:15. We got to see the David which was fantastic and the guide for the museum and the Duomo, which we saw after was fine. But the David and the Duomo was all that we got to see. Lunch was out an out of the way location and was fine enough but nothing special and it seemed its biggest selling point was they must have a good deal with the tour operators. After lunch we were supposed to see some leather working demonstration and it was nothing more than a sales pitch. In fact, it seems to us that the purpose of this trip was to deliver us like lambs to tourist traps. Then another long trip back to Rome. The David and Duomo are must sees, but do them another way.

  • This was very disappointing. I have been on many different tours in Italy in the past however, this was my first time with Green Line Tours. There are several different issues that caused me to only rate this activity with one star. First was the guide, Marina was very rude at the beginning. Second was that we spent almost four hours in transit each way, which did not leave much time to really spend time in Florence. Last was that a portion of this tour is spent watching how leather bags and jewelry is manufactured a total waste of time because Green Line Tours and this place must have some sort of agreement about a commission of what we spend at this store.
I suggest that anyone interested in a day trip to Florence choose another business like City Tours, and one that gets you to the site via train, so that you are able to spend more time there and really enjoy the whole experience.

  • Sorry, but this was the worst part of our trip to Rome. We had a small cramped but with others who didn't speak English . Our guide Marina, talked incessantly the WHOLE trip, most of which we didn't understand. we were herded from place to place and not given enough time to enjoy the Academia. They guide would just say, this is not Michelangelo so lets move on. We did get to see the David and then were led on to the Duomo. After seeing this we had a pre-ordered lunch but had to pay for our drinks. We were then led to an 18K gold shop to tour. Several asked what time to meet for our 3 hours trip back but the guide refused to tell us unless we toured the shop. My daughter and I then decided to leave the group , walked to the train station and rode IN COMFORT, for 1 1/2 hours only, back to Rome. This was on the Green line tours and we won't make that mistake again. ruined our Florence experience.

  • We enjoyed the Florence Day Trip, it's a fast day, use your museum time wisely, it's very short. Lunch was good, would do it again!

  • For the most part, it was a good day. Marina was an excellent tour guide ... very knowledgeable about the region and the city. Simon was a great driver. We had to detour due to an accident on the highway so we got to see some amazing scenery. Because of the detour we were about an hour and a half late getting to Florence but we still got to do everything listed. Our shopping time was cut short at the end. Two things that were not as good as hoped. First, the lunch was just okay. Our first course of Pasta, was fine. I didn't realize that meat loaf was a typical Florentine dish! That was the second course. We were told it was beef, but I think it was a combination of yesterday's leftovers. Second, the leather shop where you end up in is a trap. The demonstration is a sales pitch for their gold and leather products. After it's over the sales clerks follow you around the store. The shopping area was not as nice as the shopping area we passed through earlier. We would have preferred to go back but didn't get the chance because we were limited on time.

  • If only there was more time! Florence is a wonderful city! I so need to go back to see more on my own!

  • This tour was amazing!
