Know More about this tour

After meeting your guide in Piazza della Repubblica, jump right in to the Florence food scene by checking out typical delicatessens where Florentines do their daily shop for fresh produce. Most of the vendors in the delicatessens are the owners of the shops who specialize in the products that they sell, making them the ultimate food experts.

Head to an Italian shop that specializes in Parmigiano Reggiano, balsamic vinegar, and prosciutto from some of the best areas in Italy. Enjoy a cappuccino at a boutique chocolate shop, and, of course, try a chocolate or two while you're there. You'll also stop by the oldest wine cellar in Florence, which sits right by the iconic Duomo.

Continue by paying a visit to one of Florences most vibrant marketplaces. See locals shop for their daily meals and check out a selection of fresh buffalo mozzarella, ricotta, and other cheeses. Taste cured Tuscan prosciutto sliced by hand, fresh bread, and roasted porchetta, as well as sample olives direct from the farmers home on the Amalfi Coast. As you go, learn about the traditions behind these foods from your guide.

In the indoor part of the market, pass stalls filled with handmade pasta, cheese, fish, meat, and poultry. Top off your tour with a glass of wine (or Italian soda) accompanied by toasted bread and seasonal toppings. After two hours, your tour will conclude at your original departure point.

  • This was a wonderful tour. Linda, our guide, lead us through Florence telling us the history while sampling the local cuisine. She didn't rush us through our tour but leisurely strolled through the streets of Florence. It was obvious that she loves her job and loves sharing her city with people. I highly recommend this tour. It is worth every cent.

  • This was a fun and informative tour. We went to several markets, tasted a lot of yummy things from chocolate to cheese and meat. We stopped for pastries and coffee or chocolate, which was paid for as part of the tour. Isabella was our guide, and she was helpful and answered our many questions. I would highly recommend this tour.

  • What a blast! Lots of fun and interesting variety of food stops along the way. Our guide was superb.

  • We took this tour on the first day of our vacation... and what a way to start ! When we met our guide, Isabelle, she informed us us that we were the only 2 people on the tour, what a wonderful surprise... she not only took us to the most amazing food markets, she provided information on culture around the various types of foods and wines. We sampled so many wonderful things ... coffee, pastries, chocolate, cheeses, charcuteries... and more. She even provided us with some great restaurant suggestions! Isabelle was a great guide.... the tour was well worth it ... I would absolutely recommend it ! What a way to start a vacation!

  • Great tour! Walking, tasting, learning. We visited markets and shops. We learned about foods and tasted lots. Meats, cheeses, fruits, wine, tapas, chocolate, coffee. It was completely delightful and a highpoint of our week in Florence. Our guide was Francesca and she was great - personable, fun, engaging, informative. Highly recommend.

  • Friendly nice guide who provided the flavors of Florence. His restaurant and food recommendations were great. A nice tour of the everyday people shopping venues-the marketplace and food carts.
