Know More about this tour

Meet your guide near Piazza della Stazione in central Florence, and then set off on your 2.5-hour walking tour of the town. Head through the San Lorenzo neighborhood, an area known for its colorful markets and artist workshops. As you walk, listen to snippets of history and stories about the Tuscan capital.

Florences heyday is widely recognized as the Renaissance era when the notorious Medici dynasty ruled the roost. Being lovers of fine art as well as powerful and prosperous people, the Medici family nurtured some of the most eminent Italian artists, who left their artistic legacy firmly stamped on the city.

Wander past the Medici Chapels that were designed by Renaissance artists Michelangelo and Matteo Nigetti, and then gaze in admiration at the colossal Basilica of San Lorenzo, where prominent members of the Medici family are buried.

Continue to Florence Duomo, topped by the distinctive Brunelleschi's Dome. Learn about the cathedral while you walk around it, then visit Giottos Bell Tower and see Florence Baptistry.

Stroll through the citys medieval center to Palazzo del Bargello, an imposing-looking art gallery that once was a prison, and then explore Piazza della Signoria Florences busy central square. Admire the array of sculptures strewn about the piazza, such as the Rape of the Sabine Women by Giambologna, an impressive statue outside the Uffizi Gallery.

Pass Palazzo Vecchio, the city hall, and continue past the New Market (Mercato Nuovo) to see Il Porcellino, the citys much-loved bronze piglet statue. Stop to rub the statues nose for luck, and then wander back toward the river, cross the magnificent Ponte Vecchio, and finish your tour by Pitti Palace.

  • This tour was amazing. The guide was very informative and with Florence’s history and ability to keep their treasures was well worth seeing

  • Excellent tour. Guide was informative.

  • It was very informative however, the guide was boring to listen too. She did not make it very exciting. Following I had no idea it they were going to speak in Spanish and English which made the tour even longer than it needed to be.

  • Relaxed small group tour - conducted in both French and English. This did present some challenges - particularly hanging around in quite crowded areas while the guide switched between languages. However, she was very informative and worked hard to keep us engaged. I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to start their Florence experience with an introduction to the main parts of the city or like me anyone with only a limited amount of time to look around.

  • Sylvia did a great job on this introductory tour to Florence. She will give you information on where to go during your stay and some inside tips.

  • It was us and another 3 Spanish tourists waiting for the guide so we figured we'd be split but to our dismay we were grouped together with an English and Spanish-speaking guide. Don't get me wrong the tour was very informative and the guide very fluent and knowledgable but we felt like we got half of what we signed up for. At each stop the same information was narrated in the 2 languages, so in practical terms, had it been an English-speaking only group which is what we imagined it would be we would have gotten double the information in the allotted time! The time spent narrating in Spanish and vice versa for our Spanish counterparts could have been used for additional information in English. We were truth be told quite disappointed by this as the guide had a lot to offer.

  • great way to see the city and learn about the history.

  • Our guide Maximilian was number ONE..Very knowledgeable and full of anecdotes about the history.Kudos to him!

  • Our guide did the tour in 2 languages which really slowed the tour, otherwise it was fine.

  • Our guide was very knowledgeable and informative of the history and culture of Florence. I definitely recommend this for anyone visiting the city.
