Know More about this tour

Neuschwanstein Castle Tour: (7 hours)Board your coach in central Frankfurt in the morning and travel roughly 262 miles (422 km) south to the enchanting Bavarian town of Fssen, located at the southernmost tip of Germanys Romantic Road.

Fssen is home to one of Germanys star attractions: Neuschwanstein Castle. Perched on a rocky hill, this fairy tale palace rises steeply above the village of Hohenschwangau, dominating the surrounding plains and Alpine foothills. Youll understand immediately why Walt Disney used this royal castle as his inspiration for Sleeping Beauty.

Bypass the entrance lines and follow your guide on a narrated tour of the castles interior. Learn about Neuschwansteins creator, the shy and troubled King Ludwig II, who used the palace as his personal refuge during his turbulent reign. Neuschwanstein is by far the most distinctive of the kings three Bavarian castles, built in classic Neo-Gothic Revival style. Its grandeur is simply breathtaking.

After your tour, make the most of some free time to stroll around the gardens, shop for souvenirs, grab lunch (own expense) and take photos against the stunning backdrop of the Bavarian mountains. Then, relax on your coach journey to your next destination: Rothenburg ob der Tauber.

Rothenburg ob der Tauber Tour: (7 hours)Situated high above the Tauber River Valley on the Romantic Road is Rothenburg, widely considered as the best-preserved medieval town in Germany.

Take a walking tour along the cobbled lanes lined with picturesque half-timbered houses. See the imposing city gates, Renaissance-era Town Hall and the marketplace while learning about Rothenburgs history and architecture. Encircling the whole town is a walled fortification, still intact from hundreds of years ago.

At the end of the day, reconvene with your guide for your relaxing 2-hour journey back to Frankfurt.

  • Great itinerary although Rothenburg is a lovely well-preserved medieval city deserving more than an hour stop-over! The way to Neuschwanstein was way too long from Frankfurt - over 4-hour drive one-way, the drive on a German highway was a bit scary since no speed limit in some places hence up to 160 jumper hour at times!, but we had an experienced driver and guide. The walk up to the castle itself was a bit unexpected 30 min one way or so, so you better be ready for it !!

  • My sister, niece and I were just in Frankfurt a couple of weeks ago and the Neuschwanstein Castle was the top of our must see list! It is a bit of a drive but the time went by so fast thanks to our wonderful tour guide Jack! We stopped on the way to the beautiful Rothenburg at the Christmas Market for some shopping and pictures of the amazing architecture. On to Neuschwantein Castle which is like seeing a picture out of a fairy tale book. It is quite amazing and the village and location of the castle are equally beautiful. Since we were there in the winter there was some snow and a hike from the bottom of the drive to the top. They do have some horse drawn carriage rides to take you to the top but we walked. The actual tour of the castle isn't as long as we expected but it was well worth seeing. The whole tour would not have been near as enjoyable had we not had a wonderful guide. Jack is so knowledgeable and entertaining the trip went went by in a flash! If you are going to take this tour I highly recommend that you ask for Jack to be your guide.

  • This trip is not worth the cost.

  • We did not have the best experience. We had trouble getting to the office due to a mix up with the train. I called the office they told us to stay at the station we were at and the driver would come and get us. We were told to be at the front of the station WHICH we did. After 30 minutes I called the office again and they said the driver could not find us. I told them where we were. The driver Peterwas very upset and rude to us and it was very uncomfortable. We got to the vehicle and he was not very friendly and did not tell us much on the drive. He also did not have us introduce ourselves or the other people introduce themselves. I understand we were late however the office told us to stay where we were and we were at the place they told us to be. I also felt it was unprofessional to have the driver using his phone when he was driving. He was looking down at his phone frequently, which I think is not safe. We also were cold and he did ask if the temperature was ok we said no and he did not know how to turn to warmer it got colder and we had to help him get it turned correctly. The castle was awesome!! One of the ladies guestioned about Rothenberg and made it clean she wanted to be able to see the city and shop, we were told do not worry you will and have supper. We DID NOT get to rothenberg in time to have supper and only 2 stores were open this was very disappointing when it made it sound like we would have time in Rothenberg to do those things. For the amount of money it cost I feel we paid too much for what we got. It said we would not have to stand and waitin line we would get to go ahead of the line and we did not!! I feel we should get a refund. I have been in many Vivator trips and they have been very good! I talked my friend into doing this tour, we could of drove ourselves and bought the castle ticket and we would of been able to spend time in Rothenberg earlier and enjoyed the town.

  • This was a fantastic tour and I highly recommend it! Peter our tour guide was so professional and knowledgable about all the places we visited and he knew everything about everything and he was so informative. The German countryside is beautiful and our journey along the autobahn although very busy at the time was still well worth the ride! Our first stop in Rothenberg was lovely and it really is a beautiful town. We spent about an hour there which was fine by me as it still allowed us enough time to walk around and explore the town. The architecture and the well kept buildings are a must see! The castle was well maintained and the architecture and style of the building and everything with in is really quite amazing! I wanted to see a castle and Im glad I saw this castle! The tour was well worth it, it was a long day but all very manageable! The tour was well organised and again I cannot reiterate the professionalism and knowledge of our tour guide Peter! If he is guiding your tour you will be treated well! I would happily do another tour with him!

  • This was an amazing day spent visiting these two MUST SEE locations!. Peter, our guide, was phenomenal and shared all his knowledge about the locations and where to get the best pictures! While it was a long day, it was a wonderful day. Many thanks to Peter!

  • This tour was amazing!

  • It was a fantastic trip, in a private car. Our driver, Peter, was outstanding. He was informative, well versed on the area, and attentive to all comforts of a long tour.

  • Our guide and driver was excellent. He was informative about Germany and gave his opinions on the current affairs when asked. We drove through and stopped at some German tourist attraction villages and arrived at the Neuschwanstein Castle as expected. The Castle itself was very interesting and unique. On our way back, we stopped at a typical German restaurant to have a good meal of pork and beer. Our guide knew the good places to eat along the way and how to avoid traffic backups. Overall, this tour have us looking forward to attending all the Octoberfest that goes on around where we live in Pennsylvania, and we are not even of German heritage.

  • I enjoyed the sites we saw on this tour a lot but the van we spent a LOT of time in was too cramped. For the amount of money we spent on this tour, and the large amount of time we had to be in the van, there should have been more room for each passenger - we were crammed in way too tight.
