A very interesting fact about this area in the Lazio region,the ancient town ofTusculum - now Frascati, is that the archeological discoveries demonstrate the cultivation of grapes for wine since the 5th century B.C. It was one of the preferred wines ofAncient Rome, RenaissancePopes, poets and artists visiting in theGrand Tour1700s and 1800s, and of theLa Dolce Vitageneration in the 1960s.
The Frascati DOC/DOCG area is located in the heart of theCastelli Romani, Tuscolum and Albani Hills south ofRome, and north ofLake Albano.
Through a private car transfer (which takes about 45 minutes each way), you will arrive at your destination in the Frascati area, where you will meet your guide for the tour. During this experience you'll walk in the vineyards where the history of the Frascati wine begins. From the vineyards, you'll then be guided inside the winery to explore the wine cellar and learn about the particular production techniques characteristic of this unique wine.A guided wine tasting will follow, during which time you will taste different varieties of wines accompanied by typical local products.

The host was friendly and informative. He explained how they grow and maintain the grapes as well as the process to make the wines. We had lunch with our tastings. I would highly recommend having the lunch with the tastings as the food and wine complimented each other perfectly. The lunch was beatifully arranged. Enjoyed the wine so much that we are having some sent back home to enjoy!

We had a great experience. Very knowledgeable and breathtaking views. Only wished we got a quicker response from Viator as one of the travelers had knee problems 3 days before the trip and we didn't get a response if there will be a lot of walking. Although the traveler still came to Rome, Italy, she missed out on this awesome tour.

What a fantastic experience. We were met on time and driven to the wine tour. We were greeted by the owner of the villa and then shown around the property. The tour ended with a fantastic wine tasting event with select wines and bruschetta and cheese pairings. Perfect way to start our Italy experience.
