Know More about this tour

Meet your guide near the Vatican Museums, purchase your entrance ticket inside our office (at your own expense) and head straight inside to begin your Vatican night tour without the hectic daytime crowds. Follow your guide through the Vatican's mesmerizing museum complex, comprising nearly 2,000 different rooms. Even if you had a whole day here, seeing it all would be impossible, so your expert guide will take the pressure off by showing you the must-see rooms and artwork!

As you explore this exciting labyrinth of galleries and apartments, see Egyptian relics and Etruscan artifacts alongside incredible Renaissance art by legendary Italian painters Raphael and Michelangelo. Highlights of your tour include the Gallery of Maps, home to 40 map frescoes that date back to 1580, and Raphael's Rooms, four interconnecting chambers adorned with paintings by Raphael and his pupils.

Finally, youll make it to the room youve been waiting for the beautiful Sistine Chapel. After your guide explains the significance of this sacred Vatican site, you'll have roughly 15 minutes to walk around inside and gaze in awe. See Michelangelo's famous ceiling fresco, The Creation of Adam, as well as The Last Judgment, a colorful fresco that dominates one of the chapel walls.

Your tour finishes outside the Sistine Chapel, and while entry isn't permitted to St Peter's Basilica in the evening, you can spend as much time as you want in beautiful St Peters Square, where you can take nighttime Vatican photos without the usual daytime crowds!

Evening Vatican tours sell out fast, and only twenty Friday nights are available between April to October.

This was suppose to be a small group tour and ended up over 30 people. Very disappointing. I think the guide was very knowledgeable and did the best she could with the large group. Felt a bit cheated as I think we would have had a much different experience in a smaller group.

Tour was great ! . Guide did move a bit too quickly thru Museum. Group size was larger than
i experience last time i took this tour. it is a Must see experience.

The guide spoke broken English and was almost impossible to understand over the earphones. It may have been a good tour if we heard it. Also, they could have put a map to the gathering spot on the voucher. We assumed it was right by the entrance to the museum but it was down the street, which is hard to locate if not familiar with the area and difficult to ask for directions in a foreign country. Very, very crowded and the guide spoke during the music playing so you miss that part of the tour completely.

I took this tour under the impression that it was going to be less crowded than visiting during the day, plus
I book my visit in Spanish hoping it was going to be a smaller group but the day of the activity at noon we were informed via email that our tour was cancelled (not enough participants) and we needed to go with the English group. I found myself in a group of 26 or 28 people, and the Vatican museum was so full that it was difficult to circulate.
It had been the guide’s 3rd visit of the day and she looked awfully tired and bored. It was difficult to understand what she was explaining as the group was so big and the place so crowded.
I will never book with Viator again and I don’t recommend this experience to anybody

First of all, I enjoyed the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and made the tour fun.
The reason I give that tour only two points is, I feel screwed: After spending $40 for the tour the tour operator charged an additional 24 Euro for the entrance fee to the Vatican museum (the actual tickets showed a face value of 17 Euro!). TOTAL RIPOFF!
Save the $50 (tour cost + 8 Euro entrance fee difference and go by your own.

Our tour guide, Francesco was amazing! He went above and beyond to answer all questions! He is the only reason I have this tour more than a star!
The company will charge you EXTRA 24 Euros/ person when you arrive at the location! They don’t take credit cards and they gave a very weird explanation to why they charge people extra! A lady in front of me didn’t have cash and the lady at the reception desk told her to give her whatever cash she has on her.

Italian taxi driver angry and upset that he was unable to find the tour meeting place that Viator provided. I noticed that many other people have commented on the website about this too. Viator needs to give a detailed map with the directions to make it easier or change the meeting place. Not happy about losing out on the experience and my money too.

  • 03-Jul-2019

Vasco was our tour guide and he was amazing, his knowledge was unbelievable and made the tour worthwhile.

  • 03-Jul-2019

I go into every experience with an open, positive mind. If you do that, you can't possibly have a negative experience. That being said the tour guide and tour itself were excellent! Our guide seemed eager to be there, and he was very knowledgeable and funny as well. The set up at the meeting point was seamless, and there were no unexpected expenses.
Yes there were other tours at the same time, but in case you didn't know, The Vatican is colossal, so you'll fit. I expect to visit Rome again and will definitely use Viator tours again

The way this tour is worded is that the Vatican museum is an optional cost. It is not optional. And when you arrive at departure poiny you pay an extra €25 pp. You cannot see the Chapel without going miles thru the museum. Its not an option. The grounds of the museum are lovely. But 3hrs of tapesties and paintings when all you want is the Chapel its way too expensive. And boring unless you are a painting history buff. We were exhausted by the end with people pulling ouf mid tour. The Vatican have designed this tour for maximum exposure to souvenires . Much has changed sice i saw the Chapel in 1995. Sad.Lots of walking. Not suitable for walking impaired, children, babies or strollers
