Know More about this tour

When visiting Hanoi, you won't want to miss Halong Bay, where a lot more than the famous limestone island formations await you.

After pick-up at your hotel in Old Quater at 08 am, the bus ride through the Red River Delta is a great opportunity to see what daily life is like for Vietnamese farmers. Rice fields and water buffalo flank both sides of the road. The most interesting glimpses into rural life come during February and June, when whole families are busy transplanting the young rice plants to the growing fields.

Arrive in Halong City tourist wharf around 12:00. Here you'll board a Traditional Wooden Junk and head into the bay. A fresh seafood lunch (Vegetarian available if requested) is served on the way out.

The limestone bedrock and sheer cliffs of the countless islets have inspired local people to come up with equally fanciful names: Stone Dogs Island, Duck Island, Finger Island, Incense Burner Island, and Fighting Cocks Island, the symbol of Halong Bay.

You will then head on to Thien Cung (Heavenly Palace Grotto), a magnificent and otherworldly caves. Explore their huge chambers adorned with stalactites and stalagmites of all kinds.

Finally, enjoy 45-minutes of Kayaking or Bamboo boat around the islands and water tunnels and bask in the charm of this natural paradise.

Around 4:30 pm you will be brought back to the Halong tourist wharf, where your vehicle is waiting to take you back to Hanoi.
The trip ends at your hotel around 08 pm.

  • The cave was spell-binding, and the limestone cliffs majestic! Our guide was also very nice and friendly. The only thing I would recommend is to cut the kayaking part for this tour especially for those who only want to see the cave, so people can head back to Hanoi and spend more time in the city. We can save more time specially since we're talking of 8 hours land trip back and forth. This can be long, tiring and boring. But overall, Halong Bay is a must-see.

  • Highly recommend this tour of Halong Bay Islands and cave tour which highlighted incredible scenery. We even had a mild storm on our way back which added magic to the experience!

  • The kayaking bit of the tour was the best. Wish we had a full hour. Our tour guide was really good. He had an honest assessment of what's happening on the ground and didn't paint a pretty and fake picture of what life is like in Vietnam. Lunch on the boat was plentiful but a bit bland. But worth it!

  • good but without any surprise anyway difficult to do more in one day and at a so long distance from Hanoi with big waste of time in the traffic

  • Overall great. You accomplish a lot in one day. Takes forever because of all the stops in the old quarter. The food on the boat could be better.

  • The view and food is amazing, but the guide in the bus need to communicate more and he should tell us more information for the destination. The other guide on board didn't make sure everyone in group move on into the cave, more than half of our group find the way ourself, a bit disappointed.

  • Great trip... Halong Bay is a must see place.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. The journey to Halong Bay was 3.5 hours, but not too arduous as there is a 30 minute rest stop half way at a shopping complex, selling Vietnamese goods. The coach was reasonably comfortable as long as you don't sit over the rear wheels where legroom is restricted. Our Tour Leader was called Silver English translation of her real name and she was professional and knowledgable. The boat White Tiger was fine and the lunch was reasonable for the price paid. Plenty of photo opportunities among the ubiquitous limestone formations in the Bay. We made two stops, firstly at Dau Go Cave, where we had a relaxing time on a bamboo boat, rowed by a local girl who took us through the cave and into a peaceful lagoon. Secondly we stopped at Thien Cung Cave. The climb to the entrance is around 100 steps up the mountainside, then there are around another 80 steps to leave the cave and another 200 steps to descend to the quayside, so if you are not reasonably fit, you may struggle. The interior of the cave is beautiful, with many interesting rock formations and stalagmites and stalactites to see, enhanced by colourful lighting. Definitely worth the effort to reach it. The cruise then returns to the port, after about 4 hours in total. We arrived back in Hanoi at about 1930, so it is a long, but satisfying day out.

  • I have to say, I am very confused by the reviews of this tour. I have to assume that most of the reviewers had upgraded their tours. We took the basic 44 tour and I can't say the experience was the same as the other reviews. The bus was uncomfortable and crowded. I couldn't switch seats and mine had a hole where a metal bar was right underneath me. It made for a very long ride. The lunch was okay, but there wasn't that much seafood and it was small for the six people sharing. The staff on the boat seemed unhappy for the most part. We did get to take a small boat ride through one area, but we got a smoking boat rower who also seemed very unhappy. We were then asked for a tip for the rower not a problem but there were four of us on the boat and we were the only ones asked to tip. The boat trip seemed very short, not the 4.5 hours advertised, and we didn't get back to the hotel until 8, I believe. My suggestion: spend the money to upgrade. This was not my favorite part of my Vietnam trip. Although the bay was pretty, we saw very little of it.

  • A truly great trip. Halong Bay was spectacular and the cave tour was unbelievable.
