This was a great day tour. I saw so much in the day. All the major sights were covered and lunch was on a great food street and was delicious!! My guide really looked after me. Definitely worth the money!

Roger, our guide, was the most amazing resource. We enjoyed every minute of our tour. Roger asked us where we wanted to go in Taipei and we went to every location that we wanted to see. Roger made sure that we were able to try special culinary treats on our adventure. We love them all. We highly recommend that you take a private tour with Roger, he is amazing.

Jimmy our guide was prompt, flexible, gratuitous and very helpful and accommodating. By choice we traveled north to see the Oceanside, waterfalls, cat village and a coal town, but still had time for traditional sites in Taipei. Great trip and host...highly recommend Jimmy and this full day tour. Thanks

My memories of Taiwan as an 8 year old are vague-- my home in Tien Mu, my school, eating Mongolian BBQ, the Grand Hotel and the corner store by my house. When the opportunity to spend 12 hours in Taipei came up recently, my thoughtful husband found this tour to give me the opportunity to walk down memory lane and show him the sites. Jack Chou was the perfect guide with which to do it. Not only was he game for anything, his enthusiasm was infectious. He seemed to enjoy hitting all these spots and discovering changes as much as we did! And to have the opportunity to speak with him on current events, politics, families, and the like (what happened to all the Mongolian restaurants in town??) was an additional treat. I'll not soon forget this tour of my memories and I'm thankful to Mr. Chou for his wonderful part in it. Highly recommended!

Highly recommend!! We spent the day with Alan from YOLO Tours and we couldn't have asked for a better day. We saw everything that we wanted to see in Taipei, along with a few surprise extras. He was even able to get us into Din Tai Fung without a wait! He was organized, experienced, and lots of fun to be around. If we had more time, we definitely would take more tours with him around Taiwan.

Note: The option below states "family (teens)". We didn't travel with any children or teens, but it's the closest option.

We had such an amazing experience with Alan, an owner of YOLO Tours, that we booked him again for the next day to show us more of Taipei.

He was able to get our requested sites in and more, and offered local insight and history into everything. His English is great, and he's very friendly and accommodating. He picked us up at the airport and after a full day of sightseeing and eating, dropped us off at our hotel.

We also did a group tour with a different company, and it doesn't even come close to how great this private tour is. On the group tour you are constantly rushed on and off the bus and end up doing things you really don't want, whereas with this private tour, everything is customized and you have a private tour guide. Highly recommend you book this private tour if you want the most out of Taipei, trust me it's worth the price.

This tour can be recommended for travelers who don't have much time, especially if you fly through Taipei and make a one-day stop in Taiwan. I was picked up from Novotel Taipei Taoyuan hotel at 8 am (with my luggage) and dropped off at the airport at about 4:30 pm. This was very convenient and saved my time. I was the only person on the tour. It is worth noting that this is a "custom tour"; where there is no prearranged schedule. The guide will ask you what you would like to see and will plan the trip accordingly. This worked perfectly in my case, but may be problematic for those who want the decisions made for them; that is for those who prefer a typical standard one-day tour of Taipei (although I am sure the tour operators should be able to take you to the places most tourist visit in the city). I wanted to see as much of the island as possible in eight hours; I was less interested in spending the time in Taipei. Thus, on my tour we visited the Taipei Baoan temple and walked the area around, then left the city for the mountainous Yangmingshan national park where stopped at the site of the sulfur mining (distinguished by the heavy smell of hydrogen sulfide - rotten eggs), visited the park with the Yang-ming statue, and continued to nearly the top of the volcanic range, where stopped at an active geothermal site with impressive plums and noisy streams of steam erupting from the slopes. Next was the drive to the coastal city of Jinshan, a beautiful drive along the cost to Fugui cape lighthouse where one can enjoy scenic views from the northernmost point of Taiwan. We had lunch at Fuji fish market where one can get a variety of live seafood, to be cooked in the neighboring restaurant. Our lunch of shrimp and crab with rice was delicious (ca. $20 per person). After lunch, the tour continued to the fisherman's wharf at the mouth of Tamsui river, where the wide views to the ocean (on one side) and to Taipei (on the other) are impressive. We made one more short stop on the banks of Tamsui river. Then I was taken to the airport. All in all, this was a wonderful day with a very friendly and helpful guide who showed me the gems of the northern part of Taiwan - all in just a bit over eight hours! I could not have spent the day better! At the end, it is worth noting that my guide was a Taiwanese person, not a native speaker of English; naturally he spoke with an accent. This can possibly be a problem with some visitors; however, I don't have a reason to complain.

This was a great experience from beginning to end. Booking was easy, communication was very good and our guide Roger was delightful. His command of English was good and he was very knowledgeable without drowning us in facts. We were able to cover a great deal in a day and Roger had plenty of insider knowledge to get to the best places and views. He was a charming young man, flexible and thoughtful. Worth every penny!

Jack was incredible!!!! Jack made sure we hit all the major spots and had extensive historical stories to tell. Small/private tours are absolutely the best. You get the true local view. We have had nothing but positive experiences with Viator and will continue to use them whenever possible.

    It was an excellent experience.
I didn't know where to start having eleven hours of layover. A friend recommended a private tour with Viator. The driver, Jack, picked us up at the airport and gave us a great tour around Taipei. He was very pleasant and courteous with us
I can not express enough how great everything was
I planned to use Viator more often on my trips.
    Thank you Viator
    Thank you Jack
