This was a great tour! The tour guide made sure we were one of the first groups on top of the mountain, so we were able to get some really good pictures! If you are worried about the climb, the rent horses for 60 soles that take out all the way besides the last 20-30 minutes. I do recommend if you are having problems with the altitude change. Highly recommend!

Booked this experience from one of the many little local vendors on the streets of Cusco for 70 soles. Pick up was from my hotel, meant to be between 4- 430am, they were a little late and difficult to contact but showed up at 4.45am. Thankfully I learnt some basic Spanish prior to the trip as I was the only English speaking participant, the guide did have enough basic English to explain the day and give some background history about the mountain. Comfortable drive in a minibus with 15 others, stopped for a basic breakfast (included) around 6.30am then continued to the mountain, some great views on the way in. Total drive was about 2.5 hours. Needed to pay 20 soles to enter the site (standard for most tours) There are toilets on the mountain at 2 areas but they cost 1 sole and are very basic. You can buy souvenirs and drinks/snacks on the mountain and hire a horse if you cannot walk. I'd recommend altitude medication as you reach >5000m altitude The walk to the top for the iconic photo took less than an hour (if you have a reasonable level of fitness), expect to huff and puff your way up there. They organise a line so you can have an iconic photo alone without others in the background, it moves relatively quickly. Excellent views on a clear day. I also added the Red Valley walk in - you need to pay 10 soles to enter the start of the walk and another 10 soles to see the valley when you reach the top (you are paying 2 separate communities hence the double up payment). The views here were also amazing. All up the walk and stopping for many photos took about 2.5 hours. Return journey to Cusco included a stop for lunch (included) which was delicious. Returned to Plaza de Armas in Cusco before 4pm. A big day and many people but excellent views, glad I did it.

The hike to Rainbow Mountain! Definitely a challenge but worth it. The staff was great and really helpful.

Amazing trip to see Rainbow Mountain and the extra trip to see the Red Valley (which was entirely worth it!) I was especially happy with how early our bus got to Rainbow mountain, we were one of the first three busses there which was great as we could hike and take pictures without it being too crowded. We had about an hour at the top of Rainbow mountain which was perfect. And then we had plenty of time to hike and admire the red valley. Overall a great tour!

We went on this tour on our 4th day of being on Cusco. Although we were somewhat acclimated, it still was a very challenging hike. For us, it was mostly due to the altitude. The views on the hike were beautiful and worth the visit. However, if possible, we recommend to take the hike towards red valley because it had a stunning view. Sadly, during the hike, our tour guides were constantly rushing us because we had to come back before midday to our bus. Because of this, we felt that there were little space for breaks, further admire the view and take photos. This was very bothersome, specially during our hike to red valley. For further improvement, it would be better to give more time to do the hike and divide the groups that payed to go to red valley as it takes longer to arrive there.

It was a wonderful experience, one of our best experiences of Peru overall. It was pretty tiring and did have a level of difficulty, but in the end it was so worth it. If you can make this trip later on your Cusco itinerary the altitude should not be underestimated, we’re from the mountains of Colorado and we did this on our 3rd day in Cusco after Machu Picchu and it still was difficult, but it was the best time for us to do it since we were acclimated to the altitude. Chew coca leaves, be fully hydrated and you’ll do just fine. Be ready for an easy amazing time with the company and great food and great views.

We ended up going to palccoyo mountain as rainbow was shut. The guide julian was very helpful. We enjoyed the snow and thunder storm at the top of mountain. Seeing all the alpacas in their natural habitat and the quechue community's that farmed the area was a real treat . Thumbs up even if it was different to what we booked the lunch and breakfast were great and I'm a vegetarian lovely local food.

It was really nice trip! Our guide Romario was very easy going, he had a lot of interesting info and was also funny! As a tip: We would definitely recommend to take the Red Valley trip (next to the Rainbow mountain trip). Most people only go to the rainbow mountain but I think that the Red Valley (which is only a small detour) was much more beautiful.
