The sunrise arrival was wonderful (beautiful lighting for photos, no crowds, cool temperature). Definitely worth the 2:00 am departure from Delhi. My driver, Prem, was punctual, friendly, and safety conscious. My guide, Rocky, gave a very informative tour of the sights. In addition, he took some nicely composed photos of me (better than I could have gotten via selfie). I appreciated that he didn't rush me and I took 90 minutes to self-explore the Taj grounds and gardens after the guided tour. The Agra Fort was impressive. As for the crafts businesses toured, first timers to Asia or India should be prepared for a sales pitch at each (handcrafted rugs, inlaid marble housewares and table tops, jewelery, tapestries). But, if you're in the market, they are high quality handmade items (just remember to bargain). The demonstrations and explanation of how the items are made are fascinating.

Our group spent two days in Agra with the intention of visiting the Taj Mahal at sunrise on the second day. I accidentally scheduled the tour on the first day and Raj the owner of Nikita tours adjusted our booking for us which was very appreciated. On our first day we hired a driver and a guide we found at the local train station who did not work for Nikita tours, we found the tour guide from Nikita tours on our second day to be more professional and much easier to work with, as well as very well educated on the history in Agra. The tour guide from Nikita tours was definitely of better quality service. In addition at the end of our tour our driver dropped us off at the train station, however due to local protests our train leaving Agra to go to Jaipur was delayed by 3 hours and we asked Raj if we could hire our same driver Mukesh for an additional fee to drive us to Jaipur from Agra. Within minutes Raj arranged to have our same driver come pick us up from the train station to drive us to Jaipur. Little did we know that the highway between Agra and Jaipur was also shut down due to protests. Mukesh drove us through the night down India back roads and delivered us safely to Jaipur. That night Mukesh our driver was our hero!
