The day started exciting and fun and just kept going downhill. Our guide was late to meet our driver, but seemed enthusiastic. We went to the Giza Pyramid complex first, which was fun. He told us a brief history, we went inside the pyramid, and to the panoramic area for pictures. We had told the guide we wanted to do a camel ride, he took us right to his friend and we got a "30 minute" camel ride that lasted all of 10 minutes. It was 200EP per person plus tip.

We left the pyramid complex and the driver and guide deviated from the itinerary and took us to a perfume shop and papyrus store. When we said we didn't want to go he scolded us. He was doing this in an effort to get us to buy things and get a kick back from the shop owners. The tour stopped being fun from there and I almost asked to stop and being taken back to the hotel at that point.

When in the vehicle the guide and driver spoke in Arabic and on their phones, but never to us. He did not take opportunities to tell us history or facts about anything we were seeing as we passed by.

We also went to Dahshur and the bent pyramid, Saqqara, and the Memphis museum. You can go into the red pyramid, but not the bent pyramid or Saqqara (which had the highest entrance fee aside from the Great Pyramid complex)

Entrance fees were not included in the price, which isn't listed in the itinerary. This was another 790EP per person. You also have to pay 5EP for the car at each location, also not included in the price. And don't forget about tipping at literally every step of the way. Bring lots of cash and find a way to get small bills, because no one will have them or want to break your 100 or 200 EP bills.

If I were doing it over again I would skip this tour, take an uber to the Giza great pyramid complex and do it myself.

We only had a few days to spend in Cairo, so we wanted to make good use of our time there, so we booked a private tour as a way to see the most famous pyramids there, without wasting any time to accommodate a group. We were a bit nervous because we didnt know what to expect, but our guide Mahmoud Hoka walked us through everything, every step of the way. He was extremely professional and knowledgeable about all of the sights he took us to. He was informative about Egypts past and present and even instructed us on how to deal with the vendors, who try to sell you things wherever you go. We knew we would receive water, but were pleasantly surprised that Mahmoud also provided us with complimentary chips, juice and cookies.
He volunteerd to take pictures of my husband and I whenever we wanted and even offered to take them when we didnt ask outright, which led to some really beautiful candid shots. I, myself love taking photos of everything and was concerned that I wouldnt be able to freely stop along the way, but each and every time I asked to stop for a photo opportunity, I was accommodated.
Egypt was extremely safe, all of the people we came in contact with were incredibly friendly, and while we chose to spend the 4 days in Cairo to finally be able to see the pyramids, I am already planning for us to go back next year to do a Nile Cruise.
If you are in a Cairo and want a full day that is educational, fun and well worth the money, book this tour and ask for Mahmoud Hoka!
