Thoroughly enjoyed the day, especially the turtle hatchery, walking around the Galle Fort, the cinnamon processing on the Modu River, and the Stilt Fishermen at Koggala. My driver/guide was excellent.

Had an amazing day trip with Chan to Galle. He was very informative and allowed me time to explore on my own. As a solo woman traveller, it's hard to book tours because companies do not want to take 1 person. On route, he taught me about the nature of Sri lanka and learnt about local plants and crops. In Galle, he gave me safety advice and allowed me time to look around on my own. Again, with the Madu River tour, he offered safety advice and waited for me. The weather was horrendous on the way back, and he drove carefully and safely to reach my hotel. Unfortunately for him, we had a slight problem with the vehicle but he made sure I was back safe at the hotel before sorting his issues out. I would highly recommend this trip and company. I will definitely use it again in the future.

My wife and I travelled to Sri Lanka in February 2017. All the organisation was very good and once in Sri Lanka we were very well looked after and loved the whole experience. I have written reviews on all the hotels we stayed in, all excellent. Would definitely recommend Unique Travel company to organise your trip to Sri Lanka.

I have recently returned home from a fantastic trip to Sri Lankan which we had booked through The Unique Travel Company. This company was recommended by a friend who had also used their services. We booked our flights separately and then organised an itinerary with the help of Peter, based on the places we wanted to visit, and our criteria of wildlife, scenery and culture. It was very tailor made to our requirements. Myself and my travel companion did not have much time to plan this trip as it was booked quite last minute so it made our lives a lot easier having someone help us with the planning of activities and hotels. Before booking we were able to review the itinerary and all the hotels, and make any alterations. On arrival at the airport in Colombo we were greeted by our driver/guide Chanaka who from day one was literally amazing. We were two young (ish) female travellers, and although very well travelled around the world, we enjoyed being looked after by Chanaka and certainly felt safe at all times whilst in Sri Lanka. Even when not with Chanaka he always made sure we had everything we needed and checked in on us. This style of tour arrangement would definitely suit inexperienced or nervous travellers, as well as those well travelled. I would say this company could meet the needs of most travellers but perhaps those looking for a little comfort and luxury rather than backpacking and being fully immersed into local life. Having said that, we made it clear to Chanaka that we wanted very authentic Sri Lankan experiences and I think we did achieve some of that. I particularly liked that the activities and itinerary was flexible even whilst we were there. For example, in Ella we spotted a zip line and due to the weather that day went back the next morning and did it before heading onto another planned activity which meant a slight shuffle in timings. Also - if you go to Ella you HAVE to eat at Matey Hut. This was by far the best food i ate in Sri Lankan on my trip. The only thing I would do differently next time would be to express in more detail beforehand the type of travellers we were as we would have been happy to swap a little luxury for camping in the nature (although some of the hotels such as Kalu's Hideaway - WOW), and would have liked to meet more locals. Our driver/guide was very knowledgable, friendly, respectful of privacy but also joined us for drinks/dinner when invited. We asked constant questions about the places we visited, the history, Buddhism, foods, drinks, and even made him play us Sri Lankan music in the car. Nothing was too much trouble! He didn't even complain about our bad singing to the radio for 12 days! By the end of the trip we were very sad to say goodbye to Sri Lankan and Chanaka but would definitely return one day (with our future husbands haha). I would highly recommend The Unique Travel Company for your special trip to the amazing and beautiful Sri Lankan.

a very nice trip that went smoothly with two very young children. We had a tight schedule and got to see many different places in 10 days. Adjustments to the schedule were made on the fly and in general, a good trip program. Only thing i would have changed is to request more central hotels to sleep at, that way you can get to meet and enjoy the locals in the evenings more than we did. Highly recommend the tour!

Visited Sri Lanka five years ago with my daughter who had just finished A levels. Had a driver for our two week tour who looked after us so well. This was ideal for two females travelling unaccompanied. Sue arranged the tour to include every thing that we wanted to see and we covered safari, jungle, mountains with tea plantations, elephants, temples and beaches - truly amazing! Check out the website of The Unique Travel Company - you won't be disappointed

I did a trip around Sri Lanka with Unique Travel and it was a marvellous experience. We started at Negombo and went on up to Kandy, We were a small group, so on the day when they visited the elephants, the guide arranged for me to go round Kandy in a tuk tuk, as my parents were married in the Methodist church in Kandy at the end of WW2 and my father, a captain in the British Army, served with South East Asia Command in Kondasale...it was a wonderful experience for me and I took loads of photos.. Unique Travel went out of their way to do this, without disrupting the tour. I was so pleased that I booked the next year too.

We used this company in 2013 for a 14 day tour around Sri Lanka. The tour was fantastic and well organised, our driver Anton was great, very courteous and knowledgable. This company goes out of its way to ensure you experience the real Sri Lanka. I highly recommended this company. Through my recommendation two sets of friends have since used this company for two week tours in Sri Lanka and both sets had fantastic holidays.

We had the most wonderful trip. Everything was spot on, from our driver to the food to everything we saw. I can not recommend this company highly enough. If you have the opportunity to travel with them, take it! Also, how nice to travel with such an ethical company!

We did our 1st long haul holiday from the UK to Sri Lanka with 3 teenagers in 2016. I left a review at the time that Sue uses on her website. We loved the trip and Sue using her contacts made sure we saw the real Sri Lanka at a fair price compared to travel agents. Our kids loved it. Absolutely no hesitation in recommending this company and Sri Lanka as a country to visit.
