The cruise is scenic and relaxing, but the boat was not as advertised and made two completely unnecessary stops. Mount Vernon is glorious! If you go during peak season, get there as early as possible to avoid long lines and crowding whilst inside the house. Enjoy lunch at the cafe, which is inside the gift shop all the way back on the left hand side as you enter.

I was really interested to visit the historic mansion of George Washington. The trip was well organized and we're able to view everything in there. The tour guide Michael was excellent.

We were staying at the Courtyard Convention Center Hotel, 4 blocks from the White House. Mt Vernon was one our top things to see. We took an Uber to Alexandria's water front about an 8 mile ride for about 12 one way. We were afraid we'd miss the boat, so we arrived in plenty of time ahead of departure, but Alexandria's old town is beautiful to walk around. Unfortunately the rather old boat makes 2 more stops to pick people up rather than going directly to Mt Vernon...wasting valuable time. It was full above deck and in the sun, so we sat in the slightly air-conditioned bottom deck. Someone was narrating the sites as we sailed along the Potomac, but we couldn't hear a thing down below - with people talking and the speaker system not being very good. But despite that, it is a beautiful ride and for 44pp including the price of admission, it is a great way to get to Mt. Vernon. Why be stuck on a bus? We were at Mt. Vernon for 4 hours and wished we could have stayed much longer. It is beautiful and the new museum to honor our magnificent first president, is fabulous. Nice little cafe to eat in as well. It truly touches your heart. We sailed back and had dinner in Alexandria before we took another Uber back to DC. A must see for everyone visiting DC.

What a beautiful trip! The ride up the Potomac River was made special by the crew as they described the history of the area we passed. Four hours at Mt. Vernon gave me time to enjoy the beauty of the house and grounds and visit the museum and exhibits. Visiting Mt. Vernon this way gave me a chance to know the man who was our first president. George Washington was the man for the hour of our founding!

It was wonderful! They guys were so great at telling the history of the area. The perfect way to go! This tour gives you four hours, unlike others that are only three hours, and we're going to do this again next summer! Perfect!

What a great trip. The tour reps and staff were all so well versed and fun. The cost was well worth the day's trip. Views of the river and the tour of the estate were perfect
