Know More about this tour

After a morning pickup from your Barcelona hotel, head to the historic town of Girona where the remains of its Roman and medieval past coexist with the present, offering an image full of contrasts. Get lost in its maze of narrow streets, and get ready to travel through time in the Jewish neighborhood best preserved in Europe. Admire the Cathedral with the widest Gothic nave in the world or be surprised by the colorful spectacle of the houses along the Onyar River, which divides the city in two.

Whether from the various bridges across the river or from the top of its medieval walls, Girona always treats you to a different and exciting panorama.

Before going to Costa Brava, stop to take in the nature at the beautiful Pals. This ancient medieval village, that once was a fortress, is full of idyllic cobbled streets and plazas. Its towers and viewpoints will show you the best views of the Mediterranean Sea, enraged by the Tramontana wind and will allow you to see the fields, Empord plains, that extend into the horizon.

Next, see the green of the mountains, the sheer relief of the coast, and small villages of whitewashed houses. Stop in Calella de Palafrugell, a small traditional fishing village that still retains all the charm of yesteryear, before exploring the surrounding area.

In the vicinity of Calella you will have the opportunity to discover the most pristine corners of the region thanks to the Caminos de Ronda, an ancient pathway used by fishermen, watchmen, and smugglers. From the most popular beaches in the area to the most inaccessible coves and cliffs, you can always take a dip in the crystal-clear water.

Your tour ends with a hotel drop-off in Barcelona.

  • Kurt our guide was fantastic this is almost do when in Barcelona
Was the best tour of our whole Spain trip thankyou for a wonderful day

  • Our tour guide, Mariusz, was wonderful! He was informative, took us to the best spots for pictures, and was a great companion for the day. We highly recommend him for this tour. Costa Brava was one of the favorite parts of our entire trip!

  • It was pouring. The group were almost all seniors. The tour should have been cancelled or at least altered to prevent accidents on slippery steps and cobblestones. The guide was insistent on covering all aspects of the itinerary even in pouring rain. He also lacked sensitivity to the needs of the group.

  • The itinerary was excellent but the weather did not cooperate - it was raining hard at times and windy especially in Costa Brava. It was a small group of 7, practically all seniors with some unable to walk fast. The guide who is also the driver did not pace the tour for others to catch up and not miss his limited explanation. There was no microphone in the van so he can only talk clearly when we stopped at points of interest. I believe he tried to show us as much as he can given the inclement weather but he should also have taken into consideration the safety of all passengers. We, the passengers, were the ones who waited so others do not get lost.

  • The towns we visited were lovely to see and we enjoyed the company of the other 6 people on this small group tour. We didn't like that the tour guide/driver smoked a lot whenever we were out of the vehicle, it seemed inappropriate to be smoking while guiding a group of entirely non-smokers. Other guides we've had in our travels only smoked while we were having some free time to look around by ourselves. The guide also took us to a beach where there was basically just two restaurants for lunch, and he was upset when we wanted to eat at the place which had customers, rather than where he always takes the tour, which was completely empty and didn't look as good. Six of us ended up eating at the other place, and two stayed with the guide. Everyone seemed happy with their lunch, but I would have preferred to eat at one of the other places we stopped at and skip this place altogether. I think this tour gets taken by various guides so maybe we were just a bit unlucky.

  • Excellent tour! Our guide Matthias was great - very knowledgeable, entertaining and always on time

  • My sister and I had booked this tour through Viator for late September. There was definitely some confusion or miscommunication between Viator regarding our confirmation and who would be our guide and myself but on the day of the tour, our tour guide Kurt Jaime, picked us up at our hotel exactly on time. There was seven of us total and it was nice to have a group that small. We first went to Girona, which was very interesting, although it would have been nice to get some free time to walk around. We were pretty much led around from place to place but I do feel we spent enough time there. We then went to a beach area near the town of Pals to eat at a restaurant and the views there were beautiful. After lunch, we headed to the actual town of Pals and that is where I wish we had more time to spend. We were allowed to wander for about a half hour but my sister and I would have liked more time. The last area we went to in Costa Brava was a beach town called Calellade Palafrugell. This was a lovely place to walk around and the Mediterranean Sea was gorgeous to look at. Again, we had about a half hour to walk around and we stopped at a cute gelato place and just sat down to take everything in. Overall, the tour was nicely paced and Kurt Jaime was very knowledgeable and receptive to any questions we had.

  • Our guide Elizabeth was twenty minutes late picking us up due to the other people's wallet having been stolen or lost. Apparently she dropped them at their bank prior to us being picked up. A quick email or call saying she would be late would have been nice. Then when we picked up the other people one of them was a three year old boy. My personal opinions about children and travel aside, we should not have been with someone with children, or at the very least we should have been advised and been given the option of changing tours. If I wanted to travel with children I would have brought my own. He was not badly behaved but was very sick and coughed constantly and as all three year olds do, he talked constantly, making Elizabeth's job very difficult and taking her attention away from the tour. The people with the bank difficulties continued through till about two o'clock when the issue was resolved with phone calls and time away from the tour. They should have stayed home and fixed the issues and taken the tour another day. This was a lovely tour with two of my favourite spots. The other twosome that were with us had never been to Girona and I was very excited for them to see it. The day was seriously impaired by the child and the couple and their troubles. We stopped in Costa Brava for lunch but no reservations had been made ahead so we had difficulty finding a table for lunch. If you are going to take a group somewhere for lunch, make a reservation. This coud have been a fantastic day but was frustrating from start to finish.I will very seriously reconsider booking with viator if children as young as three years old are allowed on tours. Thank you.

  • Beautiful tour, one of my favorite days of the trip! Girona, Pals, and Tossa Del Mar were such charming, beautiful towns to visit. I only wish I had more time to spend in each place!
