Know More about this tour

After a morning pickup from your Barcelona hotel, head to the historic town of Girona where the remains of its Roman and medieval past coexist with the present, offering an image full of contrasts. Get lost in its maze of narrow streets, and get ready to travel through time in the Jewish neighborhood best preserved in Europe. Admire the Cathedral with the widest Gothic nave in the world or be surprised by the colorful spectacle of the houses along the Onyar River, which divides the city in two.

Whether from the various bridges across the river or from the top of its medieval walls, Girona always treats you to a different and exciting panorama.

Before going to Costa Brava, stop to take in the nature at the beautiful Pals. This ancient medieval village, that once was a fortress, is full of idyllic cobbled streets and plazas. Its towers and viewpoints will show you the best views of the Mediterranean Sea, enraged by the Tramontana wind and will allow you to see the fields, Empord plains, that extend into the horizon.

Next, see the green of the mountains, the sheer relief of the coast, and small villages of whitewashed houses. Stop in Calella de Palafrugell, a small traditional fishing village that still retains all the charm of yesteryear, before exploring the surrounding area.

In the vicinity of Calella you will have the opportunity to discover the most pristine corners of the region thanks to the Caminos de Ronda, an ancient pathway used by fishermen, watchmen, and smugglers. From the most popular beaches in the area to the most inaccessible coves and cliffs, you can always take a dip in the crystal-clear water.

Your tour ends with a hotel drop-off in Barcelona.

  • Karl-Jaime did a teriffic job! We had six people on our tour. Karl was very knowledgeable since he is a native and loves the area.

Girona was the highlight of the trip. We are interested in the history of towns and buildings and this was a goldmine. Karl knew of the use of the town for Game of Thrones and described the uses in the series, but he was just as knowledgeable of the true history of the buildings and people who lived there.

We stopped for lunch at a restaurant on the beach. We didn't otherwise have time at the beach even to take a few pictures, though there are certainly more interesting parts of the coast so that wasn't a big deal.

We made a short stop at a medieval town that had been restored and build new in the old style. While it was interesting to see, there wasn't real historical interest.

The stop at the coast was very nice. The small village fishing village has obviously expanded a bit for tourists but was still in a very picturesque cove with beautiful buildings along the shore and up the hills.

  • Worth it and interesting. It was a very small group of people which made it very easy and comfortable throughout the whole tour. Our guide was attentive, knowledgeable, and patient. We had already visited Barcelona before but had never seen the places that we visited on this trip. Fortunately, the weather was pleasant and we had absolutely no rain at all. As always, we remained glad to book this tour with Viator as we usually do.

  • Andre, our guide was amazing! He picked us up at exactly the time he said he would arrive at our hotel, and gave quality information and commentary throughout the day. Andre has a passion for sharing his wealth and a depth of knowledge. Andre is one of the best tour guides that we have ever had. Girona is beautiful and filled with history and architecture. Costa Brava is breathtaking. Our lunch stop was at a fabulous restaurant and at the end of the tour Andre returned us to our hotel.

  • Our guide Vincente was truly amazing, providing us with detailed information on all aspects of the tour. Even to the point of booking a seat in a Restaurant on the beach to ensure we didnt miss out

  • After much consideration / research to decide the ONE day trip to do to get us out of Barcelona....my friend and I picked the small group tour to Girona and Costa Brava.
We booked online through Viator, which was super easy and you dont have to print out a ticket.
We did a walking tour of Girona if youre a GoT fan, they filmed some scenes from Season 6 here! and Pals....then drove the coast with our last stop in Calella de Palafrugell. If you only have a day to get out of BCN, this is a great way to see some beautiful architecture in a few historic towns, plus see the breathtaking coast.
We were lucky enough to have Vicente Ponce as our guide....hes awesome!
The other great thing was it was only us and a couple, so it was almost like a private tour. Viator tours will go regardless of how many people sign up...so theres always a chance you could get a private tour!
Our driver was awesome as well.
Don't forget to tip your guide and driver!!!!!!!!

  • This tour is a great way to end our Barcelona trip. As a Game of Thrones fan, it was so exciting to see some locations of season 6 episodes. Moreover, it was a very informative experience to have Vicente as our tour guide. He knows his stuff, from game of thrones, folk lore to history of Girona and Costa Brava. This tour is ideal for a small group tour, I don't think we can appreciate the wealth of information provided by Vicente in a big setting.

  • HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, this tour was superb, Girona is beautiful city lots of history esp as Game of Thrones fans and Costa Brava eben thougha bit cold in winter 60 F was breathtaking experience. Our tour gide Kurt-Jaime from Barcelona in and Out Tours picked us up on time and was with us as guide whole tour. little did we know the breadth of history and beautiful architecture of Girona as well as the amazing mediterranean views of Costa Brava where our guide took us to a fresh seafood restaurant on the beach and orchestrated a superb well rounded combination of tours in one full day. Highly recommend to anyone interested visiting Barcelona, we had no idea how much we would come to love this all day tour. the vehicle was aminibus Mercedez and driver was safe, on time pickup at hotel and had no travel issues at all. Tour guide was also very informative and knowledgeable about history of both places. This was our favorite Barcelona tour well worth the price and full day experience.

  • Paul was awesome!!!! Totally enjoyed the day. Learned so much about the culture and history of Girona and Game of Thrones. We were in a group of 8 total 3 in my group all ages. Paul did a fabulous job, so knowledgeable, personable. GREAT DAY!!!!!!!

  • Our guide Paul from the U.K. has done a really good job, knows everything about the area and culture since he's been living in Barcelona for so many years. He has a good sense of British humor and explains everything in great details. Would definitely recommend to join his tour!

  • 5 star tour. You can't go wrong with this tour.
