Know More about this tour

Hotel pickups for this 8-hour tour around the Golden Circle take place between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m., with the aim to leave Reykjavik by about 10:15 a.m.

Your first stop of the day is at the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Thingvellir National Park. Take a walk into the rift valley between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, and learn about one of the world's first parliaments, the Althing.

Next, continue heading eastward over the small mountain pass, Lyngdalsheidi, toward the town of Laugarvatn, which lies within the Golden Circle. The town has a population of about 200, and lies predominantly along the west side of the lake. The lake contains geothermal springs under its surface, making it a popular swimming spot with some warm patches along the shoreline. Keep moving along to the amazing waterfall Gullfoss or the Golden Falls, which is an iconic waterfall of Iceland, located in the glacial river Hvítá.

There will also be an opportunity to pick up some lunch (own expense) at the on-site cafe, just a 10-minute drive away from Gulfoss, the geothermal area with the famous hot spouting Geyser named Strokkur. Walk around the colorful area surrounded by hot springs with names like The Blower, Litli Geysir, The Handyman, and The Bucket. After that, pay a short visit to the small but beautiful waterfall Faxi (or Vatnsleysufoss). The waterfall is located on the Tungufljót river.

Afterward, drive south and stop at Kerid, a 6,000-year-old volcanic crater lake located in the Grímsnes area. It's one of several crater lakes in the area, known as Iceland's Western Volcanic Zone. The caldera, like the other volcanic rock in the area, is composed of a red (rather than black) volcanic rock. small fee of $4 to enter the area

. From here, ride back toward Reykjavik. The day finishes with a drop-off at your centrally located hotel around 6 p.m.

  • This was a really nice tour, with great places to see and take pictures of. Our guide and driver was really knowledgeable, meaning we could learn quite a bit about each place and some fun facts about the country. If you're on a budget I recommend bringing sandwiches or other kinds of packed food for the lunch break the prices were not extreme but still quite high, like in most of Iceland. Come prepared with proper winter shoes and wind-stopper jackets during the winter season.

  • Highly recommended tour! Despite the bad weather, with some roads being closed, our tour driver, Carlos, did everything possible to deliver us with amazing and enjoyable experience! Great tour! Highly recommended!

  • Great trip, even if the weather tried to stop us! Carlos, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and funny, and clearly the sort of guy you want behind the wheel when the road is sheet ice. Got to see all the main sites, plus added extras like Laugavatr and feeding local horses. Choose Carlos!

  • Very good tour, tour guide was very good. Carlos was very thoughtful as it was raining he put towels out on the seats. He had to work around roads being closed etc, we still managed to see everything and was shown extra sights. Would highly recommend.

  • Dearest fellow travellers. This trip was swell. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Our tour guide was a mister baldur and he was quite nice. The type of man you could have tea with. He took us to some amazing sites and he really knew his stuff and information and you know.. things. He took us on a surprise trip to get some scrumptious icelandic ice cream. Dope. Pick this tour fellas. You will not be disappointed.
