Know More about this tour

The Palace of Versailles and gardens are a breathtaking product of 17th century France. Originally the hunting grounds of King Louis XIII, his son Louis XIV took over and created what the world over now knows as Versailles. Louis XIV destroyed the nearby village for the construction of the palace, or Chteau de Versailles, and it contains over a whopping 2,000 rooms and 2,000 windows! It is considered a UNESCO World Heritage site and a protected piece of French and royal history.
The Hall of Mirrors is the most famous room in the palace, running almost 70 yards long and adorned with 357 mirrors. The room pays tribute to the political, economic and artistic successes of France. It is said that the mirrors were used in this room to both protect the walls from smoke and to reflect candle light. Only a few candles are needed to illuminate the whole room! Also, the Treaty of Versailles was signed in the Hall of Mirrors on 28 June 1919, ending the First World War.
Every room has its own story to tell, and our tour guides are thrilled to share as many as possible as you make your way throughout the palace. With over 2,000 rooms in the palace, our guided tour is the best way to cover the most magnificent and important rooms, maximizing your time at the palace. Besides the Hall of Mirrors, the King's State apartments and the King's Private Apartments are included on the guided Versailles tour. See where the so-called "Sun God" used to get his beauty sleep.
After touring the palace, explore the magical formal gardens of Versailles. These iconic gardens were copied around the world, most famously by the Czar in Russia. The gardens are monumental and extremely manicured, taking up a total area of almost 2,000 acres. Thousands of trees were brought in from around France to create the gardens; entire regiments of the French army were used to transport the trees and level the ground. The scale is so monumental that in order to maintain the garden's unique design, the entire garden needs replanting every 100 years. After an introduction to the gardens you are then free to explore on your own, or simply find a place to relax in the sun.
